Description
This is a live recording from 1991, the final year of Miles Davis’ life. The king of jazz, Miles Davis, passed away on September 28, 1991. This recording is from about two months before that. This live performance, which was held whether he knew about his own death or not, was the best one that summarized Miles’ jazz history. Miles, who had undergone many transformations due to his insatiable pursuit, was supported by a group of distinguished musicians who had supported him in various eras, and they performed together as if they were reminiscing on each era. Just looking at the participants and set list, you can hear the deep sobs of the fans. From Jackie McLean to Deron Johnson and Richard Patterson, who supported him in his final years, to Shorter, Hancock, Grossman, Zawinul, Chick, Dave Holland, John Mac, John Scofield, and Al Foster, Miles’ long-time right-hand man in electric music. They played “ALL BLUES”, “IN A SILENT WAY”, “IT’S ABOUT THAT TIME”, “FOOTPRINTS”, and even Hancock’s “WATERMELON MAN” in the confusion, and ended with “JEAN PIERRE”. It was truly the “Last Supper”. The inside of the front jacket has details of who participated in which song, so please refer to it while watching. The sound quality is perfect, recorded on a sound board, but there are some parts where there is a little noise due to the master in the latter half. A DVD is included. The content is a professional shot video of part of the same live performance. It is a version with different angles and editing from the official version. There is no menu screen, but each song is divided into chapters. Recorded Live at La Grande Halle de la Villette, Paris, France, July 10, 1991 Soundboard Recording // Original Remastered 2022.
