Description

This release is a studio session for the first time in a while. It is a collection of sessions from the masterpiece “Seven Steps to Heaven”. It is not something that has been circulating on the Internet, but is an extremely valuable master that was officially handed over to us. The sessions here include three sessions of “Seven Steps to Heaven”, “So Near, So Far” and “Joshua”, which are all masterpieces that are highlights of “Seven Steps to Heaven”. The session was held in LA with Miles, George Coleman, Victor Feldman, Ron Carter and Frank Butler, but about a month later, they replaced the piano with Herbie Hancock and the drums with Tony Williams and tried again in NY. As you know, the latter performance ended up being recorded on the album. Originally released separately as “LA Sessions” and “NY Sessions,” this time the first disc is the “LA side” and the second disc is the “NY side.” The sound quality of the LA side, which had a somewhat unstable volume, has been significantly improved. In addition, the tracks on both sides have been re-cut into important sessions, allowing you to skip the chats and sound checks and enjoy only the “musical” parts. Furthermore, the order of the songs on the “LA side” has been changed to the same order as the “NY side,” “Seven Steps to Heaven,” making it even easier to compare. This is the definitive version. With all these new improvements, it’s a must-buy.
