Description
The performance at the jazz festival held in Brussels, Belgium on October 29th during the Euro Tour in 1986 was recorded almost completely for 1 hour and 56 minutes, with the audience sound source from the cassette master at that time being remastered in 2025. First of all, the sound source originally had some hiss noise, but this time it has been upgraded with the latest equipment to reduce noise and adjust the balance, resulting in a quality of a different dimension from previous recordings. And among the live recordings from the mid-1980s, it is extremely rare to hear Garth Weber, who was only enrolled for a short period of time as Robben Ford’s replacement, and there are only a limited number of eight-person bands from this period, so it is very rare. And in terms of performance, Vince Wilburn’s light rhythm is hip-hop-like and somewhat modern, and while Miles was underestimated at the time, this ensemble’s splendor is likely to be reevaluated in the future. The album mainly features numbers from the Grammy Award-winning “TUTU,” and while the rhythm is light, the duo of Miles and Bob Berg, who play with great energy, is pleasant to listen to from start to finish. Bob on tenor and soprano is particularly lively, and the interplay between him and Miles, who inserts sharp phrases into Bob’s playing, is superb.
