Miles Davis Bob Ber, John Scofield Miles Davis/CA, USA 1984 2Shows Upgrade

From the 1984 North American tour, two performances were held in Hollywood on June 2nd, both of which were released in recent years due to taper, and the sound source was remastered in 2024 to almost complete full recording. First of all, the parts where the cheers of the audience at the venue were quite harsh were upgraded with noise reduction and balance adjustment, and the long live performance of 3 hours and 4 minutes in total was somehow reproduced clearly. And while their performance on the recent Euro tour varied wildly from day to day, it has calmed down considerably since the North American tour, and while the performance here seemed a little rough in the first half, John Scofield delivers his usual sharp guitar solos on “What It Is,” Miles really gets going on “Time After Time” in the middle, playing on his own terms even as he goes off-key, and Bob Berg joins in beautifully. Furthermore, the new arrangements of “Hopscotch” and “Jean Pierre” featuring Daryl’s bass provide solid performances to close out the main part of the album, which seems to symbolize the band’s successful mid-80s.
