Description
From the 1988 US club gig, the live performance at Banksville Crypton in New York on May 29th is almost completely recorded with soundboard recordings from a must-have item for broadcasting. Just one year before, they performed in Japan, showing that they were still in good health, and here they performed a wonderful performance with a group of skilled members, including two former members of the Jeff Beck Group, Max Middleton and drummer Bernard Purdie. The high-quality performance, centered on blues, culminates with a technical and elegant solo in the final song, “Can’t You Hear Me Knocking,” and ends with the familiar “Blind Willie McTell.” Unlike the previous year’s Japan tour, where the performance was somewhat fusion-oriented, Taylor’s performance with a stronger blues color is still unique to him.
