Description

This time we are introducing the nostalgic US original version of Mick Jagger’s 2nd solo album, Primitive Cool. A solo tour in 1988 was realized in response to the release of this album. It may be easy to forget that songs from solo albums were also played because many Stones numbers were played at all performances, including the opening dome performance. At the Osaka performance at the beginning of the tour, six songs from this album (Throwawa, War Baby, Say You Will, Party Doll, RadioControl, Shoot Off Your Mouth) were played. Many of you may remember that the opening number, Honky Tonk Women?Throwaway, had a really cool flow. That live show where Joe Satriani and Jimmy Ripp of the era when they were surviving their days played a lot (although Jeff Beck wasn’t accompanying them as rumored, it’s still a great play even if you listen to it now!), and Simon Phillips played a lot. There are probably many fans who still remember it. Now, this is Primitive Cool’s first solo album in two years since his first solo album, She’s The Boss, released in February 1985. Unlike his first album, which was produced by the favorites of the era such as Bill Laswell and Nile Rodgers, it feels like he was particular about his own production. Although his favorite person, Dib Stewart of Yuzuri Mix, also participated in the production, it seems to be Mick. This exchange continues from the soundtrack album for the movie Ruthless People. The three single-cut songs are concentrated in the first half of the A-side, but there are songs from the 6th track on the B-side that you can’t miss. The country style Party Doll is very Mick-like. It’s filled with honorable mentions such as Let’s Work, which incorporated Afrobeat, which was very popular at the time. Now, Mick’s solo albums including this one were all re-released as analog versions in 2019, but this original US version allows you to listen to very high-quality sound. The fact that the matrix part is engraved with DMM and STERLING’s handwritten stamps proves that the sound quality is very satisfactory. It’s not a hard record to get, but it’s not like you can always buy a disc in mint condition. Take this opportunity to enjoy Mick’s Primitive Cool again! Taken from the original US LP(Columbia, OC 40919) 1. Throwaway 2. Let’s Work 3. Radio Control4. Say You Will 5. Primitive Cool 6. Kow Tow 7. Shoot Off Your Mouth 8. Peace For The Wicked 9.
