Description
This is amazing! Introducing MSG’s very early high-quality live album!! This work is a live recording of the “September 28, 1980 Derby performance” just after the release of their first album “God (Return of Flying Arrow)”. audience album. The detailed tour schedule at that time remains unknown, but since the release of “God” was in August 1980, it will be about a month after the full-scale start. This is an early record from the early days of the band, with only a few performances at most. This master suddenly appeared on the internet recently. The sound is outstanding, and you can tell that it was recorded in the audience seats because there is a slight clap, but the direct feeling of the musical sound is like a line recording. There is no disturbing audience noise, and you can clearly hear the chorus of Paul Raymond & Chris Glenn. The bass has a deep bass, and above all, Cozy Powell’s drumming is amazing! Speaking of the just-started UK tour, in addition to the rehearsal mentioned above, there were only “Armed And Ready” and “Into The Arena” which were used as the B-side of the single. It is unprecedented for an album to capture the very early MSG with such a wonderful sound. However, it is not without its drawbacks. In the original master, there is a cut due to a tape change in the second half of “Rock Bottom”, “9:18-10:07”. In this work, that part was supplemented with the cozy tape “RETURN OF THE FLYING ARROW” that contained tour rehearsals from the same period. Even though it was supplemented with a high-quality sound board, the discomfort is minimal. As expected, I can’t say it’s “so natural that you won’t notice it,” but on the contrary, the sound of the main part is so great that you’ll want to “go back to live tapes as soon as possible!” If you have listened to that masterpiece, you will understand how amazing this is. The very early MSG with such a sound is truly, truly amazing! It’s been a while since they started, so their solidity is noticeable, but since they’re the type of band that reproduces songs with a strong sense of structure, this isn’t a negative. The enthusiasm of a new band that has just started and the careful performance reveal a splendid beauty. Moreover, the setlist is centered around the super masterpiece “Kami (Return of Flying Arrow)”. The part of “Bijou Pleasurette” is replaced with “Natural Thing”, and “Rock Bottom” is inserted between “Looking Out From Nowhere” and “Tales Of Mystery”, but other than that, the song order is the same as the album “Kami” Just like that. At that time, there was no such thing as an “album reproduction live”, but this is the “God’s stage edition” that is as close as possible to that. The sweet and sad tone of Michael Schenker who plays it makes you cry and sing and scream. Flying V! Michael has had a career spanning about 40 years since “Phenomenon” in 1974, but he has never been so beautiful, so delicate, and so eloquent. Phrases that seem like they’ll break if you touch them dance wildly. I can’t tell you how many times I had to freeze my hands on the keyboard to write this much… In addition to being so wonderful, this work also has the reality unique to audience recording. During the new song from “Kami,” the audience didn’t make a big fuss, probably because they were frozen in love with the beautiful melody, but as soon as the song ended, they burst into loud applause. In particular, the member introductions are very realistic. After Gary Burden introduced Paul and Chris, he asked, “Who is behind me?” As if they had been waiting, loud cheers of “Cozy!” and “Cozy!” erupted. The final performance at RAINBOW, MONSTERS OF ROCK, will be on August 16th, so it’s been almost a month since then. This is a scene that clearly shows how popular Cozy was in England at the time (I wonder if they were already booked at the end of RAINBOW’s tour at this time). Even so, a certain critic wrote, “Baden doesn’t do MC because he stutters,” but in this work he speaks completely normally and confidently. The same goes for Randy Rhoads’ theory of infantile paralysis, but why do we even need to create such a story?!? ”! I never thought I would be able to meet such fresh-faced Michael and Cozy again 35 years later… Michael broke away from UFO, which was based on a rock’n’roll style, and filled every inch with his own music. And, it is a 100% live album woven from the enthusiasm of authentic British kids less than a month after the impact of “God (The Return of Flying Arrow).” The potential and passion that created the super masterpiece “Kami” explodes on stage. 2015 was an unforgettable year for Schenker fans, and this is an extremely hot piece that is suitable for that summer.
