This release features a full 1 hour and 47 minute recording of the January 28th Tokyo Budokan concert, the highlight of the “MY YEARS WITH UFO” Japan tour, which consisted entirely of UFO songs in 2026, taken from a digital audience master released by the taper. Michael’s guitar and vocals are recorded beautifully and flawlessly, and the band sound alone is of such high quality that you might think it’s a soundboard recording. This all-UFO set, which can finally be seen in Japan, is a UFO best-of live performance that includes an instrumental medley, just like the performances around the world in the previous years. However, the lineup for this Japanese show has been completely revamped, with former Skid Row member Eric Grönwall returning on vocals, former Dream Theater member Derek Sherinian on keyboards, and former Whitesnake member Brian Tichy on drums. The presence of these seasoned veterans is a major point of interest, as it is a lineup exclusive to Japan. All three shows during this visit to Japan featured the same setlist, including numbers from “Force It,” “No Heavy Petting,” and “A New Intent to Kill,” as well as an instrumental medley, and of course, “Only You Can Rock Me,” “Doctor Doctor,” and “Rock Bottom”—the 70s Michael of UFO truly came to Japan. The fact that this was his first performance at the Budokan in 38 years also generated a lot of buzz, and on this particular night, during the final encore song “Too Hot To Handle,” Arch Enemy’s Michael Amott suddenly appeared and the two performed a guitar duet—a surprise only possible at the Budokan. It is said that he came to Japan to see the Budokan performance and joined in at the last minute, and this limited-edition memorial item from this visit perfectly recreates that special night.
