Description
This is a live performance from Michael Schenker’s “TEMPLE OF ROCK” US tour that started in February 2012, recorded with a superb audience shot. “TEMPLE OF ROCK” that Michael released last fall was not M.S.G. but Michael’s solo name, and it was like a condensed essence of the bands and career he was involved in. In addition, the musicians who collaborated with him were diverse, including Michael Voss, Dougie White, and even SCORPIONS members such as Herman Larebel and Rudolf Schenker, and it was well received by fans, who said, “Michael Schenker is still alive and well!” One of the people who sang on the album was Robin McAuley, who supported Michael in the “McAULEY SCHENKER GROUP” from the late ’80s to the early ’90s. For the “TEMPLE OF ROCK” tour, Michael decided to hire Michael Voss in Japan and Dougie in Europe, and Robin as the vocalist for the US tour, and the combination of Robin and Michael was revived for the first time in 20 years. This work completely records the live performance at “Marquee 15” in Corona, California on February 24th, the 9th performance of the tour, with a powerful audience shot from the left side of the front row of the stage. Fans will enjoy the performance of Robin and Michael on stage! “Marquee 15”, where this live performance was held, is a small venue on the scale of a live house. Therefore, the unity between the stage and the audience is strong, and the image of the members moving full screen is very powerful. Of course, the sound quality is also top class, and the sound that gives you a direct experience of the vivid realism of a club gig is irresistible. The fans will be able to listen carefully to the best selections from “TEMPLE OF ROCK” and other artists such as UFO, SCORPIONS, and M.S.G., from the playing of each member to the overall outline of the performance. The opening is “Into The Arena”! Any fan will be surprised by the closeness of the stage and the audience (i.e. the camera) and the presence of the players, who are almost right in front of you (considering that they are filming so openly, this video is likely to have been recorded by someone involved or a live performance where filming was allowed). It is also impressive to see Michael in a good mood and enjoying himself throughout the live performance, and his play, which includes flashy actions and poses that imitate the “TEMPLE OF ROCK” album cover, makes you feel happy just watching it. The bass is played by Elliot Rubinson of “Dean Guitar”, who also played with Michael on the “IN THE MIDST OF BEAUTY” tour, and the drums are played by Pete Holmes, known for his career with BLACK ‘N BLUE. Wayne Findlay, Michael’s right-hand man, plays keyboards and side guitar. Each member plays in perfect harmony with Michael. Robin appears on stage with “Armed And Ready” and although his appearance has changed since the ’90s, his voice has not deteriorated, and he sings and treats the audience like a professional. He performs the classic M.S.G. and UFO songs that he has sung many times before with great stability. In addition, he surprisingly sounds like Klaus Meine in the SCORPIONS numbers, and “Lovedrive” and “Another Piece Of Meat” fit the audience better than expected. Following the SCORPIONS song is “Lover’s Sinfony” from “TEMPLE OF ROCK” with Robin on vocals. As mentioned above, the singer will be changed for the Japan tour and European tour, so this song is expected to be included in the set only for the US tour, and it is a big highlight of this live show. In addition, “Save Yourself” is performed as a medley, which is a surprise! There is no better song that makes you feel the reunion of Robin and Michael since “McAULEY SCHENKER GROUP”! Robin’s vocals sound just like they did in 1990, and Michael’s solo is brilliant. Don’t miss the fan-favorites “Rock My Nights Away” and “On And On” from the middle to the latter half of the show. After this, UFO classics are played one after another, including the lyrical “Love To Love,” the hard and active “Let It Roll,” “Lights Out,” and “Natural Thing,” allowing you to fully enjoy Michael’s playing. The long solo in the climax of the show, “Rock Bottom,” is as amazing as ever! The live performance, in which the band performs a total of 18 songs, is full of highlights. Considering the chemistry between Robin and Michael, it would be a shame to change the singer only for this US tour. This is a must-see item for any Schenker fan, as it is a long-awaited work that entertains fans of Robin and Michael’s reunion. 101 minutes of treasures that can be enjoyed with high-quality image and sound. Definitely a must-listen and must-have for fans! If you want to enjoy the 2012 US tour, this is it!
