Description

The 1984 US tour by M.S.G., led by Michael Schenker, which took place after the release of “BUILT TO DESTROY”, will be released on March 22nd in San Francisco, California, using a newly discovered ultra-high quality audience master! This work is a completely different master from the previously released same-day sound source. It is truly surprising that such a sound source has appeared on the ’84 US tour, which already has few sound sources. You can enjoy the precious live performance for 80 minutes with a wonderful listening experience! The live sources from the “BUILT TO DESTROY” tour are not only official works, but also collector’s items. The ’83 European tour included famous albums such as “RED SKY IN BELFAST” and “NUREMBERG 1983” from soundboard sources. Furthermore, the Japan tour that took place in January 1984 included not only the soundboard sound source “SYSTEMS NEVER FAILLING” but also the masterpiece of the audience recording of the same period, “THE MOVING ELEMENT”, and the sound source lineup was undeniable. However, the US tour that took place from February to April 1984 was a complete reversal, with even items being scarce. For M.S.G. at the time, America was a market where they had even remixed the newly produced “BUILT TO DESTROY” to try to enter, and it seems that there were many performances, so it would not be surprising if more sound sources were known. However, the only live performances that had been made into items so far were the San Francisco performance in March and the Cleveland performance in April, and the sound quality was not “definitive”. The recording that will be released this time is undoubtedly the best, not only for the US tour but also for the entire audience source of the “BUILT TO DESTROY” tour! The San Francisco performance on March 22nd mentioned above is completely recorded with a high-quality audience master that is different from the previous release. In addition to the superb sound quality, it is also nice that you can listen to the opening and the end of the performance for longer than the previous release. You can enjoy the precious live performance in literal master quality! The previously released title “KABUKI 1984” which recorded this live performance is characterized by the liveliness that is typical of a live tape. Gary Barden’s vocals and Michael’s guitar were clearly audible, but the sound image was a little distant, and in some scenes the recording and tape conditions were unstable. However, from the opening intro preceding “Captain Nemo”, this work offers the best sound with excellent balance and stability. The freshness and clearness that convinces the master quality, and the direct feeling of feeling the stage up close are also wonderful. Not only Michael’s guitar and Gary Barden’s vocals, but also Andy Nye’s keyboard and Ted McKenna’s drums sound lively from “Rock My Nights Away” and “Are You Ready To Rock”. Michael shows off his characteristic sharp and provocative solos in “On And On” and “Attack Of The Mad Axeman”. His tone in “Into The Arena” will inspire the listener. Another highlight of this recording is the bass played by Dennis Feldman, who replaced Chris Glenn. Don’t miss the intro to “Cry For The Nations” and the middle part of “Into The Arena”, where his playing resonates clearly with a thick tone. In the second half of the live, new songs from “BUILT TO DESTROY” are played one after another. The band’s performance with a sense of unity is irresistible. “Rock Will Never Die” (the latter half of which is already filled in) is a deep listen, and “I’m Gonna Make You Mine” has a catchy groove. The excitement of “Armed And Ready”, which marks the climax of the live performance, is simply amazing. The enthusiastic reaction of the audience suggests that M.S.G. was spreading its support to American fans as well. The encore was the familiar UFO numbers “Rock Bottom” and “Doctor Doctor”. Michael’s long solo in “Rock Bottom” is superb for about 10 minutes, and “Doctor Doctor” is about 8 minutes, including “Thank You Jam”, and is a passionate performance that is worth listening to! About a month later, in late April, Gary Barden also left the band, and the early M.S.G. came to an end, but here you can enjoy a wonderful performance without feeling any negative elements. The 1984 US tour was the final tour of the early ’80s, when Michael and Gary Barden teamed up. This tour, which had not been blessed with sound sources until now, has finally been able to produce an item comparable to the European tour and Japan tour of the same period with the arrival of this work. This decisive board, which is not only excellent for verifying the band’s history but also for entertainment, will be released on a completely limited press CD worthy of its quality. If you are a Schenker fan, this is one you definitely cannot miss! Live at The Kabuki, San Francisco, CA. USA 22nd March 1984 PERFECT SOUND(79:23) 1. Intro. 2. Captain Nemo 3. Rock My Nights Away 4.
