Description
The nostalgic Kinney recording is reprinted! Some of you may recognize this green jacket. 1983’s famous 3-disc LP set that symbolizes M.S.G. “THE MAD AXEMAN STRIKES BACK (ETS 2516/17/18)”. It is a live album that reprints that masterpiece from an analog version in the best condition. This work was recently carefully digitized and mastered by overseas core enthusiasts. It has become a hot topic on the internet, with people saying, “It’s nostalgic!” and “The sound was this good?” At our store, all the staff gathered together and had fun, but what? This is kind of strange…!?In fact, it has been known since then as the “November 27, 1982 Hammersmith Performance”, and the maniac who created the analogue also announced it as “Hammersmith 82”. Don’t mention the name of the MC venue. Or should I say, I’m cutting back on my MC. Moreover, I have heard this performance, this groove, somewhere. For example, “Armed And Ready”. The clapping of hands was repeated endlessly, and in the chorus, the title alone was pronounced in kana, “Aman Ready!”. What’s more, “Kyaa!” mixed with yellow screams erupts at key points. Kinney at that time also went to England to record, so Hammersmith is not impossible, but this is in Japan… so I investigated thoroughly. I checked everything and found out! This live is their second performance in Japan. It was also the first day, “January 13, 1983, Fukuoka Sun Palace Hall”. Let’s take a look at the dates: January 13th: Fukuoka Sun Palace Hall [This work] January 15th: Nagoya City Public Hall January 17th: Kyoto Kaikan Hall January 18th: Osaka Welfare Pension Hall January 19th: Osaka Welfare Pension Hall ・January 20th: Tokyo, Nippon Budokan On this day, there was also a leaked soundboard album “GOD RETURNS DEFINITIVE MASTER (Langley Deluxe 015)”, but this work Kinney magic as expected. Of course, Michael Schenker’s Flying V is clear, but Gary Burden’s singing voice and rugged bass are also clear, and the natural “ringing” that seems to be an audience recording is amazing. I have handled many guest records of “ASSAULT ATTACK TOUR 1982-1983”, but the neat and clear sound so far is so exquisite that I can hardly remember it. And M.S.G. in its full glory depicted with that sound. Barden has also become much more skillful, and the rhythm section of Chris Glenn and Ted McKenna is truly impenetrable. The Flying V dances happily on the background… Although the memories of Cozy Powell’s first visit to Japan are vivid, the ensemble in which all the members were completely devoted to “V being the main character” was still dazzling. This is a show where such a band performs “Ulcer”, “Rock You To The Ground”, “Bijou Pleasurette”, “Desert Song”, and “Looking For Love” in full “83” style. Well, this is M.S.G. after all! “THE MAD AXEMAN STRIKES BACK” is a masterpiece recorded by Kinney that for many years everyone believed that it was “Hammersmith 1982”. This is one of the best CDs. Despite being full of nostalgia, its beauty and dazzle have not diminished in the slightest even after 33 years. A perfect live album to experience “1983 M.S.G.” 100% in its original form.
