During the Bad era, Michael Jackson and Quincy Jones had many musical disagreements. First, Michael supported the technology-driven synthesizer sound, while Quincy was more traditional with live instruments. “We would fight,” Michael told Ebony magazine in 1987. “Sometimes we’d disagree. If we’d get into a fight, it was about the new, the new technology. I’d say, ‘Quincy, music is always changing.’ I want the new drum sound that everyone’s using. I want to go beyond the new.” “Smooth Criminal” was Michael’s favorite and was a candidate for the lead single and title track, but Quincy hated the song and didn’t think it had the power to make it onto the final tracklist. They also disagreed on the music of the moment. Quincy predicted that rap would become a mainstream genre in the future, but Michael didn’t think that would happen. Quincy planned to have Michael record an anti-drug track, “Crack Kills,” with hip-hop heavyweights Run-D.M.C., but the plan fell through. “I brought Run-D.M.C. into the studio because I saw the future of hip-hop,” Quincy told Billboard. “And then Michael said to Frank DiLeo, ‘I think Quincy’s gone mad and doesn’t understand the market. He doesn’t understand that rap is dead,’ and that’s what he said.” The conflict between Michael and Quincy came to a head when Michael, who was against re-recording with a live band, rearranged Quincy’s recordings into Synclavier sounds in his home studio without Quincy’s knowledge. Quincy was furious and temporarily left the project. They eventually resolved their differences and agreed to a compromise, but Michael and Quincy were under increasing pressure to finish the album. It had already been postponed twice and the release was several months late. Michael was shooting videos and Pepsi commercials at the same time to promote his 16-month tour. The album had to be completed by August ’87, as Michael’s tour was scheduled to begin the week after the album’s release. The first track on Vol. 12, “Tod Mi Amor Eres Tu,” meaning All my love you are, is a Spanish version of “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You.” And “Je Ne Veux Pas La fin De Nous,” meaning I don’t want the end of us, is a French version of “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You.” “Just Good Friends” was written by Graham Lyle and Terry Britten and recorded towards the end of the Bad sessions in ’87. Stevie Wonder is featured on the song, though he is not credited. It is the only song on the album that was not released as a single. Therefore, there is no official remix. Quincy Jones said, “Michael and Stevie Wonder’s duet was a mistake.” Includes a fan-made alternate version, a very pleasant Extended 80’s Version, a cool Major Tourist Edit, a speedy and beat-filled DJ Beat Remix, a bass-heavy The Reworked Bass Mix, and a recording from Spike Lee’s BAD 25 documentary. “Get It” is a song written, produced and released by American singer-songwriter Stevie Wonder as the seventh track on his 21st studio album, Characters. Michael Jackson appears as a guest vocalist. Released as a single on May 5, 1988, it was the third single from the album and peaked at number 4 on the R&B chart. It reached number 80 on the Billboard Hot 100. Michael and Stevie recorded their sixth collaboration and first duet “Just Good Friends” in ’87, but a few months later, Michael returned the favor by providing vocals on “Get It” with Quincy Jones at CBS/Sony Studios. Stevie later recorded it at Wonderland Studios, with him and Gary Olazbal writing the song. This includes the official full version of “Get It”, an acapella, a DJ mix of “The Groovey Reworked Edition”, and Michael’s solo version. And the Pepsi commercial version of “Bad”. The lyrics are as follows: “I’ll show you what you’ve got, show me what you’ve got. Never stop ’til you’re satisfied. Feeling good. Aim high, the choice’s made. They say you’re so far gone, but nothing can stop you. You’re a brand new generation. And here comes Pepsi. You know I’m a badass. The whole world needs an answer now. I’ll show you the Pepsi way. It’s cool.” The album includes the song “I Heard It Through The Grapevine,” which features Michael singing backing on “Bad” by the R&B group California Raisins, which is made up of personified raisins. 1.Tod Mi Amor Eres Tu (I Just Can’t Stop Loving You) 4:10 2.Je Ne Veux Pas La fin De Nous (I Just Can’t Stop Loving You) 4:07 3.Just Good Friends (Feat.
