Description

“METALLICA with Dave Mustaine” is the strongest heavy metal band in history. The studio album has evolved into its ultimate form and is now available! This work is a comprehensive review of the studio recordings left by METALLICA during the Mustaine era. This is the definitive version of the blockbuster hit “NO LIFE ‘TIL MEGAFORCE.” For those who don’t know about that masterpiece, I’ll explain it from the beginning. This work includes four studio recordings of early METALLICA, in which Mustaine was a member. Its composition is… Original master of “NO LIFE ‘TIL LEATHER” (7 songs) Upgraded master of “MEGAFORCE DEMO” (2 songs) Official reissue of “NO LIFE ‘TIL LEATHER” (7 songs) First ” Official reissue of “Hit The Lights” (1 song)… 17 songs in total. There are other early METALLICA demos, but most are “garage recordings”. This is all about the “studio recording” that sets it apart from that. Of course, this work is a collection of all of them in the highest version. Now, let’s introduce each one individually. [Original master of “NO LIFE ‘TIL LEATHER” (7 songs)] First up is “NO LIFE ‘TIL LEATHER,” which is said to be the “world’s most famous demo.” Moreover, it is not the version that made METALLICA’s name known around the world at the time (hereinafter referred to as the “regular version” in this article), but the original version before editing. It has been digitized from the tapes that were treasured by Ron McGoverney, the bassist at the time, and the official version includes the cut counts and conversational voices, and the songs are in the same order as they were recorded. The legendary session is revived in its entirety. And even more than that is the sound. In fact, this legendary session was recorded simultaneously on two recorders, one of the original masters remained in the hands of Lars Ulrich, and the other remained in the hands of McGoverney. Among them, the one that became the official version and spread all over the world was the Lars-type master. It is also called “4th Gene Copy”. On the other hand, as mentioned earlier, this work is based on McGoverney-type masters. It is said to be a “1st-2nd generation” that has not undergone any editing work, and is much younger than the official version. Moreover, this work is also the highest version of the original master. The previous edition “NO LIFE ‘TIL MEGAFORCE” included the original sound version and a digitally remastered version, but this work includes the digitally remastered version that was highly praised by overseas enthusiasts. It is a powerful version that approaches the power with the last line that does not cause distortion or deterioration. And the content is truly a “true debut work.” In the first place, “NO LIFE ‘TIL LEATHER” is generally considered to be a “demo,” but it was originally intended to be a debut EP. It was produced with the investment of the owner of the punk label “HIGH VELOCITY” (Kenny Kane), but when Kenny heard the finished recording, he realized that METALLICA was not a punk band (I know this sounds like an idiot, but… That’s why METALLICA at that time had an unprecedented and innovative sound). Then, the debut story disappeared, and as a result, it became popular as a demo. In other words, this session was made with the intention of being a record debut, so of course all the song arrangements were completed, and since they had already performed live, it was more mature than a normal studio album. Moreover, the performance is filled with the youthful spirit of “I’m going to go out on the world with this!!”, so it’s no longer at a level that can be described as a “demonstration”. [Upgraded master of “MEGAFORCE DEMO” (2 songs)] What follows is an upgraded version of “MEGAFORCE DEMO”, which is the biggest point of this work. This is the one and only studio recording of “Whiplash” and “No Remorse” co-starring Mustaine and Cliff Version. It was recorded at a local radio station in the Bay Area, “KUSF”, in order to introduce the new lineup that Cliff has joined to various labels. This is also not a handmade garage recording, but a professional recording. This and the take were also recorded on the previous edition, but a new master was discovered afterwards. That sound is completely different. Until now, “MEGAFORCE DEMO” was by default full of noise, and how beautifully it was mastered determined the quality. However, this new master does not have that noise. As expected, it may not be as lustrous as “NO LIFE ‘TIL LEATHER”, but the extremely rare co-starring of the genius Mustaine and Version is revived, with a smooth sound without the harsh or stiff feeling that was destined until now! Also, with the addition of these two songs to “NO LIFE ‘TIL LEATHER,” all songs from “KILL ‘EM ALL” (other than the bass solo) are now available. In other words, this work is the true originator: Dave Mustaine’s version of “KILL ‘EM ALL” itself. [Official reissue of “NO LIFE ‘TIL LEATHER” (7 songs)] “NO LIFE ‘TIL LEATHER” appears again in the second half. This is another version. The one recorded at the beginning was the McGoverney type master, but this is the official version born from the Lars type master. However, it is not the version from 1982, but the version that was officially reissued by the official for “Record Store Day” in 2015. According to the announcement at the time, the plan was to reissue it as a souvenir cassette version on “Record Store Day,” and then to release the CD version to the general public. It is also said that Mustaine expressed disapproval.) As a result, only the cassette version saw the light of day. However, this cassette version also had a difficult problem. In the first place, it was sold out in no time as a souvenir. Furthermore, even if they get it, the majority of enthusiasts don’t play it (or rather, don’t open it). Fans all over the world couldn’t listen to it even if they wanted to. Of course, what is included here is the “2015 reissue cassette version”. Although it is the official version with counts etc. removed, the sound is the best ever. Speaking of “NO LIFE ‘TIL LEATHER,” the original release version in 1982 was difficult to obtain, and even if it was available, many of the songs were repeatedly played. Under such circumstances, this work uses a major master owned by Lars himself, and has also been given official digital mastering. Although it is different from the “original master” mentioned at the beginning, it is the ultimate version that looks like an official work. [Official reissue of the earliest “Hit The Lights” (1 song)] The last song included is “Hit The Lights”, which was provided for the first pressing of the compilation album “METAL MASSACRE”. This song was written by James Hetfield during his time with LEATHER CHARM, at a time when the band was not yet complete, and is truly “METALLICA’s oldest recording.” James was dissatisfied with the result, so after the second pressing (even on the 90’s reissue CD), all the solos were replaced with a different take in which Mustaine performed all the solos, but this was an illusion where you could hear black guitarist Lloyd Grant’s solos. official take. It was first released on CD in the METAL BLADE label 20th anniversary box, but unfortunately it is now out of print and difficult to obtain. However, I can’t bear to see the official digitized take disappear, so I’ve revived it here. Enjoy the oldest record with more dynamic mastering than the original LP version “METAL MASSACRE”. This is the ultimate studio album from the Dave Mustaine era, which includes a total of 17 takes. This work is not only the starting point for METALLICA, but also the origin of MEGADETH…or rather, it can be called the debut album of the music genre “thrash metal”. A treasure from “METALLICA with Mustaine,” which was the strongest band in heavy metal history. ULTIMATE & UPGRADE EDITION!!! (72:30) NO LIFE ‘TIL LEATHER: THE ORIGINAL MASTER 1. Motorbreath 2.
