METALLICA celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2021. A special version of the anniversary performance pro shot that has been a hot topic worldwide is now available. The 40th anniversary performance took place in San Francisco on December 17th + 19th, 2021. This is a multi-camera pro shot. It was also a hot topic because it was distributed on one of the world’s largest mail order sites, but this work is a different version that records two full performances in their entirety. As mentioned above, this work is a special version of such a 40th anniversary performance. Many people may have seen it on a certain major site, but unlike that distribution, there are no subtitles and the angles are different. Of course, even though it is a different version, it is not a leaked master that is in the process of being made. The degree of completion itself is the same as the largest version, and it is completely official. The huge cylindrical screen’s large spectacle and the elaborate visual beauty are perfect, and the work is even more official in the absence of subtitles. And what became a hot topic more than the ultimate quality was the special set that traveled 40 years of progress. The two performances are based on one concept, and on the first day (DISC 1) the songs of all the albums are traced in chronological order from “1st → 2nd → 3rd … → HARDWIRED”, and on the second day (DISC 2) it goes back in reverse order from “HARDWIRED → DEATH MAGNETIC … → 1st”. It is a flow that starts from the 1st and goes back to the 1st. What is even more surprising is that there are no overlaps in the two performances, and there are plenty of super rare songs. The first day started with the original “Hit The Lights”. The super rare songs of interest were “Trapped Under Ice” and the epic “Fixxxer”, the former of which was revived for the first time in nine years, and the latter of which was the world premiere on this day. It is an extremely rare song that has only been played once. Other songs include “The Shortest Straw”, “No Leaf Clover”, and “Frantic”, which are more prominent than the standard songs, and in a word, it is a set that feels like “the latest METALLICA”. The second day, which replaced them, was a rare song rush from the beginning. “Hardwired” seems to be a natural choice, but after that, “The End Of The Line” for the first time in 11 years, “Dirty Window” for the first time in 10 years, and “I Disappear” for the first time in 8 years were performed one after another. “Wasting My Hate” and “Dirty Window” performed in the middle of the show are the first since the 30th anniversary concert, but excluding that one time, it has been 17 years since they were performed.
