Description
In 1994, MEGADETH was in the midst of their golden age, sending their masterpiece “YOUTHANASIA,” which is unrivaled in its deep emotion, to No. 4 in the US. A luxurious set of soundboards and pro shots that allow you to enjoy the stage is now available. This work contains two performances at the same venue in Buenos Aires. This is a two-disc set with the first appearance FM broadcast soundboard recording of the “December 1, 1994” performance on DISC 1 and the TV broadcast pro shot of the following “December 2” on DISC 2. Speaking of the Buenos Aires performances during the “YOUTHANASIA” era, the super-famous “DEFINITIVE BUENOS AIRES 1995+1997” is a big classic, but this work is a completely different performance. In order to understand the circumstances around that, let’s first look back at the schedule at that time. 1994 ・October 25th: Appeared at “NIGHT OF THE LIVING MEGADETH”《October 31st: “YOUTHANASIA” released》・November 23rd-26th: Europe #1 (3 shows)・November 29th-December 9th: South America #1 (9 shows)←★Here★ 1995 ・January 13th-February 25th: North America #1 (36 shows)・March 10th-April 30th: Europe #2 (36 shows)・May 17th-31st: Japan (11 shows)・June 3rd + 4th/July 5th-8th: Europe #3 (6 shows)・July 12th-August 27th: North America #2 (36 shows)・September 2nd-9th: South America #2 (4 shows)←※DEFINITIVE BUENOS AIRES 1995 This is MEGADETH in 1994/1995. As symbolized by the later moving work “THAT ONE NIGHT,” they are extremely popular in Argentina, but in fact, their first visit was during the “YOUTHANASIA” era. There, five consecutive performances (December 1st-5th) were suddenly realized, and this work was the first and second days. Now, let’s introduce each one individually. [DISC 1: FM sound board with rare song “Victory”] First up is the FM sound board recording of “December 1st,” which was also the first time in Argentina. At this point, if you are an avid collector Nogata, you might think, “Oh, ‘ARGENTHANASIA ’94,'” but that is not the case. That traditional bootleg has been known as “December 1st,” but in fact it was the third performance, “December 3rd.” The reason why it was found to be a different day is because the “true December 1st” was unearthed. That is DISC 1 of this work. For those who don’t know about the previous release, it’s a simple story, but it’s still fine. To be honest, it’s just a different performance from the old bootleg, and the fact that this work itself is a great sound board remains unchanged. As expected, it is a somewhat wild FM broadcast that does not reach the official transcendental absolute board “DEFINITIVE BUENOS AIRES 1995 + 1997”, but the pleasure of the live performance of the “golden four” being poured directly into the brain is enormous. There is no DJ, which is common in South America, and you can fully enjoy the powerful performance. Moreover, this work further brushes up the topical net source. As expected, the deterioration in the latter half of “Sweating Bullets” cannot be fixed, but the high notes that were not good overall are comfortably extended to achieve the highest sound. Moreover, the live itself is more intense than that sound. If you have read this article, you have likely experienced “DEFINITIVE BUENOS AIRES 1995+1997,” so let’s organize the information by comparison. 80’s (4 songs) Peace Sells: Wake Up Dead/Peace Sells So Far, So Good: In My Darkest Hour/Anarchy In The U.K. 90’s (12 songs) Last in Peace: Hangar 18/Tornado Of Souls (★)/Holy Wars… The Punishment Due Countdown to Ruin: Skin O’ My Teeth/This Was My Life (★)/Sweating Bullets/Symphony Of Destruction Youth Anesthesia: Reckoning Day/Train Of Consequences/A Tout Le Monde/Victory (★: First Day Only) Other: Angry Again *Note: The ★ mark indicates a song that cannot be heard on “DEFINITIVE BUENOS AIRES 1995+1997”. …And so it goes. The first delicious song is “This Was My Life”. It’s a hidden masterpiece with a first-class sad melody of MEGADETH, but it was dropped in the middle of this tour. The next time it was revived was the 2012 “COUNTDOWN TO EXTINCTION” reproduction tour. The version with the key dropped in a big way lost the sadness, but in this work you can enjoy it with the live performance of the “golden four”. And the even rarer song is “Victory”. It is a highlight of “YOUTHANASIA” and a masterpiece that includes the song titles of the past repertoire, but it was only performed live at that time. Moreover, it was only performed a few times, and only on the first day of the 5th Buenos Aires performance. This disc is a soundboard album where you can enjoy such rare masterpieces. [DISC 2: A super-valuable long-length pro shot where you can see the “golden four”] DISC 2 instead is a multi-camera pro shot of the following “December 2nd”. While DISC 1 was an FM broadcast, this work is a TV broadcast pro shot. This is a video that has been known for a long time, but it has been made into a DVD from the recently released Best Master. Of course, it is an analog image due to the era, but what is surprising is the freshness of the master. “South American professional shots in the 1990s” are a rough and natural image, but this work is completely different. The smooth and glossy image quality has almost no dubbing marks, and there is no white line noise or tape twist. It is a visual beauty that overturns the image of “South American professional shots” itself. Rather, it is the camera work that makes it feel more South American than the image quality. The number of cameras and switching are perfect, and at first glance it seems to be not much different from Western broadcasts, but the sense is still developing. There are too many close-ups of each member, and conversely there is no audience. The camera is installed in a slightly unusual place, such as diagonally behind, and the fade processing of the switching is uncool. It is a smile that the shooting is still not used to rock. That said, the professional shots of the “golden four” are extremely valuable. Of course, there are many detailed TV broadcasts left, but when it comes to long-length footage of 80 minutes, there are only “CLARKSTON 1995” and this work (in terms of the set, it is a style that removes “Victory” from DISC 1). This is a definitive set of a sound board with extremely rare songs excavated over a quarter century and a pro shot that is extremely rare for its long length. The “Marty Friedman / Nick Menza era” is not enough officially. This work is an absolute two-disc set that will heal your dryness with two full performances. A two-disc set that couples the FM broadcast sound board recording of the Buenos Aires performance at the same venue “December 1, 1994” (DISC 1) and the TV broadcast pro shot of “December 2 the following year” (DISC 2). DISC 1 is a first-time appearance sound source excavated in recent years (the master previously known was found to be December 3), and you can enjoy “This Was My Life” and the extremely rare “Victory” that are unique to this period. DISC 2 is a rare video where you can witness the golden four. There are only two long professional shots of about 80 minutes, and this work is a DVD of one of them from the best master. This is the definitive edition where you can enjoy plenty of the “Marty / Nick era” that is not enough officially.
