Max Roach Sonny Rollins Max Roach Sonny Rollins/Sweden 1966 & more Remastered

The live performances in Sweden and Austria from a European tour led by the famous drummer Max Roach on two stages with a quintet and a quartet have been remastered from the radio broadcast master. The broadcasts were by date, but for easier listening, the quintet has been re-recorded on disc 1 and the quartet on disc 2. The sound quality of the Swedish version is excellent, but the Austrian version seems inferior due to hiss and other noises. Even so, the digital noise that was “snapping, snapping” has been carefully removed by hand in dozens of places. Incidentally, during this performance, Freddie Hubbard gets angry at the heckling of the audience during his solo and stops. There is also a scene where he curses quite violently. It is a rare moment that gives a glimpse into the background of the times when jazz as black music had not yet taken root.
