Description

Mark Knopfler’s project with Emmylou Harris was also a hot topic in 2006. Introducing a soundboard album where you can enjoy his solo performances in the highest quality. This work includes “September 20, 2006 Boothbay Performance”. This is the best soundboard recording. As mentioned above, 2006 is known for co-starring with Emmylou Harris, but a small number of Knopfler’s solo performances were also held. In order to imagine the circumstances around that, let’s first check the show’s position on the schedule at that time. [“ALL THE ROADRUNNING” released on April 24th] ・May 26th-June 13th: Europe (18 performances) ・June 19th-30th: North America (10 performances) ★September 20th: Boothbay performance ←★This work★ ★October 19: Newcastle performance [“REAL LIVE ROADRUNNING” released on November 14] *Note: “★” marks are solo performances, “・” marks are Knopfler & Harris. This is Mark Knopfler in 2006. May/June was spent on a duet project tour, but after that there were only two solo shows. One of them was this work, which was a special concert for charity. This work, which records such a show, is an exquisite soundboard recording. Even if you say “sound board” in one word, there are wide variations in quality and quality, but in the case of this work, it is “directly connected top quality”. Unlike radio broadcasts, there are no embellishments or overdubs that create a concert experience, and the music and vocals flow straight into your ears. Since the cheers are far away, the sense of realism is not so great, but the synchronization with the live music is amazing. Moreover, it is “excellent”. A sound board that is directly connected to a desk is basically a mix that follows the on-site PA, and it is not uncommon for things to be terrible depending on the freshness of the master, but there is no need to worry about that with this work. Perhaps due to the simple band composition, the ensemble is well-balanced, and the master freshness is top-notch. Although it is “official grade” in terms of audio, it is a musical work that presents an overwhelming vividness that cannot be expected from official products. And, it is a rare drumless show with the best sound. Basically, they are regular members who also participated in “SHANGRI-LA TOUR” and “ALL THE ROADRUNNING TOUR”, but there is neither Chad Cromwell nor Danny Cummings. In addition to Knopfler, the band consists of 4 members: Richard Bennett, Glenn Whorf, and Guy Fletcher. The quartet’s set is… ●GOLDEN HEART (2 songs)・Done With Bonaparte/Rudiger ●SAILING TO PHILADELPHIA (2 songs)・Sailing To Philadelphia/Baloney Again ●THE RAGPICKER’S DREAM (3 songs)・Marbletown/Devil Baby/ A Place Where We Used to Live ●SHANGRI-LA (6 songs)・Donegan’s Gone/The Trawlerman’s Song/Song For Sonny Liston/Postcards From Paraguay/Whoop De Doo/All That Matters ●Others (3 songs)・Romeo & Juliet MAKING MOVIES” / Wild Theme “LOCAL HERO” / If This Is Goodbye “ALL THE ROADRUNNING” … and so on. The DIRE STRAITS numbers are limited to “Romeo & Juliet”, with a wide range of selections from solos and Knopfler & Harris. Among them, the core is the large-scale performance of the “SHANGRI-LA” number, which seems like a return to 2005. Songs like “The Trawlerman’s Song,” “All That Matters,” and “Devil Baby,” which were unique to that time, are also delicious, but perhaps “A Place Where We Used to Live” and “Whoop De Doo” are the ones that hit the ears even more? The live performance of these two songs is a highly valuable number that is only recorded on this day. Furthermore, it is unusual that “LOCAL HERO” uses “Wild Theme” instead of the standard “Going Home”. A collection of precious masterpieces in a drumless ensemble. This is a live album where you can enjoy the show on an official sound board because it is a special performance that is not a tour. Although it is a deep and primitive sound world that is completely different from the official work “REAL LIVE ROADRUNNING”, this is also unmistakably Mark Knopfler from 2006. This is a “big name behind the scenes album” where you can enjoy the whole story. Live at Opera House, Booth Bay, ME, USA 20th September 2006 SBD Disc 1(54:17) 1. Introduction 2.
