Description

Mark Knopfler’s 2007 album, “KILL TO GET CRIMSON,” reached the UK Top 10, marking his fourth album and continuing to exert a powerful presence on the scene. Now, a soundboard album has arrived that will immerse you in that live performance. This work is dated October 5, 2007, in London. It’s a stereo soundboard recording taken at BBC’s Maida Vale Studios. Speaking of the “KILL TO GET CRIMSON” era, the classic pro-shot “AVO SESSION 2007” is a classic, but of course (?) this is a different performance. To understand the situation, let’s start by looking back at the band’s activities at the time. 2007 – June 3: Hay-on-Wye performance; September 10: Berlin performance (“KILL TO GET CRIMSON” released on September 17); September 20-October 5: Europe #1 (3 shows) ←★here★; November 12-19: Europe #2 (2 shows) ←※AVOSESSION 2007; 2008 – March 29-June 15: Europe #3 (64 shows); June 24-July 31: North America (31 shows). This is Mark Knopfler in 2007/2008. “KILL TO GET CRIMSON” was released in the fall of 2007, but the world tour didn’t begin until about six months later. 2007 was dominated by showcase-style promotion. This video is a performance for BBC broadcast, about three weeks after the album’s release. This is a long-standing staple of the prestigious BBC FM broadcast, and this CD release is a masterpiece from that best master. Indeed, its sound is of official masterpiece quality. It’s not simply a “high-quality broadcast,” but a masterpiece-level quality that would be talked about even if it were released as an official regular release. The recording and mix are exquisite, with every note clearly recorded, from the moment it first begins to fade. It’s so delicate you can almost feel the vibrations of the instrument’s body, and so realistic you can almost feel the room temperature in the studio. If we were to compare it to an official release, it’s like a high-quality CD, focused on accurately restoring the sound of the master tape. Such high-quality audio-grade, superb sound portrays a special performance that’s completely different from a regular concert. As mentioned above, the promo tour masterpiece “AVO SESSION 2007” is also a classic, so let’s compare and organize them. KILL TO GET CRIMSON (3 songs), True Love Will Never Fade / The Fizzy And The Still (*), Let It All Go (*), Others (6 songs), BROTHERS IN ARMS: Brothers In Arms / So Far Away (★), SHANGRI-LA: Donegan’s Gone / Postcards From Paraguay, Others: Rudiger / Going Home: Theme of the Local Hero (★) *Note: “★” indicates songs that were not included in the pro-shot masterpiece “AVO SESSION 2007.” “*” indicates songs exclusive to the promo tour. …And so it goes. It seems there was an audience at the venue, but it was only a special performance for the show. There were also interviews with personalities between songs (3 times). The set was exclusive to the promo tour, with the new songs from “KILL TO GET CRIMSON” at the core. Among these, “The Fizzy and the Still” and “Let It All Go” are exclusive tracks that were not even performed on the main “KILL TO GET CRIMSON Tour” the following year. This disc allows you to enjoy a special performance for a program different from the regular tour with official, classic-quality sound. This is an exceptional studio live album, so much so that it should have been released as an official deluxe edition set with “KILL TO GET CRIMSON.” This stereo soundboard recording was made in London on October 5, 2007. This was a radio program that appeared shortly after the release of “KILL TO GET CRIMSON,” and the CD sound from the best master recording is a masterpiece even by the standards of official regular works. This studio live album also boasts exclusive tracks such as “The Fizzy and the Still” and “Let It All Go,” which were not even performed on the main “KILL TO GET CRIMSON Tour.” BBC Maida Vale Studios.
