Mark-Almond/NY,USA 1973

This is a recording of the February 27, 1973 New York concert on a superb soundboard, featuring the song “Just Another Road Song,” which was released around the same time as “73” after Blue Thumb moved to Columbia. Johnny Almond was a big hit at this concert, and he played more than 10 solo blows on “The City.” He then switched to the flute and played a great solo. Of course, Danny Richmond is also great! The last song, “Rising Free,” has a cool Afro-jazz arrangement that is different from the one on the album “Rising”!
