Description

The first London live after the participation of Steve Hogarth, who replaced Fish who left Marillion in 1988, was held on November 7, 1989, and the Astoria performance was completely recorded with the highest quality audience recording. Although this is a very important performance in Marillion’s history, this is the first time it has been made into a bootleg version, and the sound quality is quite good! “Seasons End”, with Hogarth on vocals, was released on September 25th of the same year. Fans who couldn’t imagine Marillion without Fish were surprised at how complete it was. “Seasons End” is full of high-quality songs, but what about this vocalist’s live performance? There were no local performances, and this day was Hogarth Marillion’s first visit to the UK. Although he had already played more than 10 live shows in Europe in the previous month, in an era without the Internet, he was unable to find out much information about how the shows went, whether they were good or bad, and was unable to find any information about them at the medium-sized London venue Astoria ( Fans who had been wondering for the past year, flocked to the standing room club, asking, “What will become of our Marillion?” The opening song is The King Of Sunset Town, which is the same as the album. The audience was already in an uproar. Fans who have already listened to the new album will sing The King Of Sunset Town with Hogarth. Hogarth dynamically sang the big chorus with his sharp voice, and the audience went wild, exclaiming, “This is amazing!” I would like you to enjoy the documentation of this area on this record. The second song is Slainte Mhath from “Clutching at Straws” in 1987. Once this happens, the new Marillion will completely capture the audience. In addition to his first MC performance was Phish’s signature song, Script For A Jester’s Tear, which can be called his personal song. The hysterical screams of the audience when the title was announced after the words “Quite old song” were also worth listening to. The chorus of the audience is moving. To be honest, this live recording conveys the emotional height of this area that makes you think, “There is no such amazing boot.” Naturally, the performance was impregnable, and I think the members were particularly enthusiastic about it that night. In the first half, they will perform the main song of their new work, with the famous song Warm Wet Circles in between. In the middle, a medley of the three famous songs Kayleigh/Lavender/Heart Of Lothian from “Misplaced Childhood” was played. Naturally, the audience got excited and said, “We’ve been waiting.” As it is, they play a mellow medley of Hooks In You. The last of the main set was The Space… just like the album. The first encore was the groove-filled Incommunicado, and the second encore was the new song After Me and Market Square Heroes, a signature song with Alice Cooper’s School’s Out inserted in the middle. It ended with Hogarth’s greeting, “See you in Hammersmith.” It’s a shame that there are some parts where the tape seems to have deteriorated over time, but the recording itself is very clean and clear, so I’m sure fans will be very satisfied and impressed. A must-listen live album for Marillion fans around the world that captures the moment of Hogarth’s first visit to London.
