Description

“Death To False Metal” Death to false metal! KINGS OF METAL, who have been pursuing true heavy metal for over 30 years with the slogan “Death To False Metal”, the king of metal, Manowar, has already become a legend among fans since his first miraculous visit to Japan in 21 years. The live performance held over two nights at Zepp Divercity Tokyo on October 29th and 30th, 2014, has been completely recorded with ultra-high quality audience recording without missing anything from the pre-show to the announcement at the end of the show! The strongest metal bootleg on a spectacular 4-CD set is finally here! 21 years have passed since that legendary first visit to Japan in 1993. Due to a number of problems that prevented Manowar from returning to Japan, such as fee issues, venue capacity issues, and equipment issues, it was thought that they would never be seen in Japan again. However, the miraculous return of Manowar to Japan was announced as a festival appearance, and it became a hot topic among fans, and expectations for the upcoming live performance were rising, but it was suddenly canceled one week before the festival. Many fans know the twists and turns that led to this solo performance. Now, after seeing the kings appear before us and witnessing their intense live performance, it seems that the twists and turns were a test that the kings gave to Manowarriors (Manowar’s die-hard fans). Before coming to Japan, Manowar said, “Give you a night you will never forget.” The live performance made everyone who saw it think this way: it was spectacular, spectacular, extraordinary, and the ultimate! It was such a wonderful live performance that no amount of words of praise could be enough. Heavy metal continues to be subdivided with Manowar’s aesthetics, and it makes us ask ourselves again what true heavy metal is. This is 100% pure heavy metal. A record of the struggle of men who dedicated their lives to heavy metal! If you like heavy metal even a little, we can say with confidence that this is a recording that you absolutely must listen to. The recorder is the well-known “Western Japan’s Strongest Taper”, who is now second to none when it comes to recording metal live shows. He participated in both days of the Tokyo concerts in order to leave a record of this eventful 2014 Japan tour in the best possible form for history. He undertook the expedition and recording with the passionate mission of “delivering this sound to all metal fans”! The best way to understand how amazing it is is to listen to the sound without any further ado, but to help you enjoy this live performance even more, I will add some text to supplement it. Disc 1 and Disc 2 are the complete recording of the first day’s live performance on October 29th. Before the show started, Manowarriors from all over the world gathered in a chorus, and the strange excitement of the venue was recorded 10 minutes before the start of the live performance! From this point on, you can feel the excitement of the venue and the mixed atmosphere of expectation and anxiety of the audience waiting for the kings to descend for the first time in 21 years. Then the lights go out. The opening song is “Manowar”, which has been the opening song for all Manowar concerts since it was released in 1982, starting with the usual “Ladies and gentlemen, From the United States of America, All hail Manowar”! There is probably no other band in the world that has played the same song as the first song since the beginning of their career other than Manowar. The ultimate aesthetic can be felt right from the first song. The members, led by Joey DeMaio, make dramatic and exaggerated actions, and the audience is already excited. The unique distorted roar of Joey DeMaio’s guitar also rings out. The ending of the song is so long that it makes you think the show is over. Manowar is all about overdoing it. As the band was once recognized by the Guinness World Records as the loudest band in the world (the category itself was abolished in 2008 due to concerns that it could cause hearing loss), the sound coming from the PA is a roar. This completely proves that the substitute equipment that was the reason for the cancellation of this festival cannot prove what Manowar is. The sound pressure makes your clothes and hair tremble, and the sound is so intense that you can feel the vibrations in your body, but the highs are cut and the bass is boosted so that it doesn’t hurt your ears, and the sound image is unique in itself, with the volume fluctuating in the middle of the song and the balance of each instrument changing. It’s a sound world I’ve never experienced before. But to be honest, the sound at the actual venue was a bit muffled, with only the bass and vocals being heard, so we’ve mastered it to a sound that is easy to listen to, with a balance that conveys the greatness of this live performance while still retaining the power, in honor of Manowar. The second song is the masterpiece “Blood Of My Enemies” from the album “HAIL TO ENGLAND” that dominated the UK. This heavy song that sweeps everything down will thoroughly overrun the venue. Eric Adams’ singing in this song is spectacular. From his roaring, beast-like singing, he proves to the Manowarriors that even at over 60 years old, he still has a strong body and a strong voice and can fight. As the heavy mid-tempo songs “Call To Arms” and “Brothers Of Metal Pt.1” continue, which are the first songs on this tour, many Manowarriors are hoping to get their ass kicked, when suddenly the high-speed single-note bass riff of the title song from the masterpiece “SIGN OF THE HAMMER” rings out. The venue heats up in an instant with this fast-paced song. The live proceeds without any MC from the recent works “The Lord Of Steel” and “The Dawn Of Battle”. The venue goes dark and the narration and video of “The Warrior’s Prayer” begin to play. From here, we will enter the reproduction part of the masterpiece “KINGS OF METAL” of 1988 (and remade in 2014), which made Manowar the king of the metal world, which is the main attraction of this Japan tour. The heroic words are projected on the screen and the Manowarriors sing them together, which is an excellent production. The reproduction part proceeds in a unique flow that only Manowar can do, with the song order different from the original and the remake, and making-of footage and interview footage are inserted for each song. Among the several videos that were played, the one that was particularly impressive was “The Heart of Steel MMXIV”, which introduced the staff and musicians who were involved with Manowar as FallenBrothers and who sadly passed away, with Carl Logan’s crying guitar in the background. The appearance of Scott Columbus, who was a drummer for many years and passed away in 2008, and Ronnie James Dio, who was the benefactor who led Joey DeMaio to this world, was particularly moving. And even Akira Kurosawa and Toshiro Mifune, whom Joey respects, are introduced. It seems that the introduction of Akira Kurosawa and Toshiro Mifune is broadcast not only in Japan but all over the world. It’s just amazing. The remake has been met with mixed reviews, but in the live performance, Eric’s intense roar at the beginning of the famous song “Blood Of The Kings” is a convincing performance that leaves no room for negative opinions. The highlight is Joey DeMaio’s incredibly fast bass solo part, which Billy Sheehan said he couldn’t beat in picking speed. He not only plays hard, but also has a variety of bass playing with flamenco-like parts and soft parts. The main part ended with the explosive song “Wheels Of Fire” with obscene images in the background, the famous song “Hail And Kill” which was the most exciting song of the day with a chorus of the chorus, and the familiar anthem “Kings Of Metal” with the lyrics “Other bands play, but Manowar kills”. What’s even more amazing is from here. Joey DeMaio came back to the stage alone with Godzilla-like footprints (sound effects) and started a speech in Japanese! It stunned the Manowarriors. It was all in Japanese without any cue cards or monitors. Hats off to the thoroughness and perfection. Please listen to the content and confirm it. You can hear the words of appreciation from Joey who preaches the way of metal. The encore was “Warriors Of The World United”, a song that unites metal warriors from all over the world, and the final song was Manowar’s ultimate fast-paced song “Black Wind, Fire And Steel”. The ending of “Black Wind, Fire And Steel” lasts for 7 minutes. There is a ritual that takes place during these 7 minutes, but it is not clear from the sound, but these 7 minutes are packed with all of Manowar’s aesthetics. The two-hour spectacular ends with the usual outro “The Crown And The Ring (Lament Of The Kings)”. If you have listened to this far, you will be holding your right hand up high in the air and grabbing your right wrist with your left hand in the Manowar sign. The spectacular live performance does not end on this day. It continues on the second day of Disc 3 and Disc 4, which surpassed the first day in all respects. Disc 3 and Disc 4 also contain a complete recording of the live performance at the same venue on October 30th. The image and sound misalignment and sound cuts seen on the first day were all resolved, and the special effects such as the vocals being panned left and right, and the grandiose chorus coming from the speakers at the back of the venue, which had not been effective on the first day, were perfectly executed, and the sound output from the PA itself was “somewhat” improved. The surprise song selection that made Manowarrior ecstatic, the trouble that only Manowar could have, Joey DeMaio’s even more perfect Japanese speech, and the ultimate live performance that surpassed the previous day in every respect was unfolded. This day also started with “Manowar”, and the next two songs were the same as the previous day. Manowar’s live performance is a kind of play, and the direction, video, lighting, etc. are firmly decided, so the set list is rarely changed, so many Manowarriors thought that the performance would proceed in the same way as the previous day, but then the masterpiece “Kill With Power” that was not there the day before came! The venue went into a frenzy. At the chorus, a chorus of “Die, Die” occurs. In the metal world, the only songs that have a chorus of “Die” are Metallica’s “Creeping Death” and Manowar’s “Kill With Power”. The flow from there to “Sign Of The Hammer” is goosebump-inducing. The temperature in the venue definitely rose by three degrees with the two consecutive fast-paced songs. Then, a trouble that can only happen with Manowar occurs in the next song, “The Lord Of Steel”. As they start playing, the performance gradually becomes disordered. Suddenly, Joey DeMaio is stopped from playing. He explains, “There’s a problem. The noise from the monitor speakers is terrible. It’s normal for loud noise to blow up the speakers.” The Manowarriors are excited by the trouble that can only happen with Manowar, who sell loud noise, and it can be said that this trouble brought the band and the audience closer together. It is also unprecedented that after the trouble is resolved, they play the same song from the beginning as if nothing happened. The audio and video delay seen the previous day was gone, and the reenactment of “KINGS OF METAL” was even more perfect and moving. After the main performance, Joey DeMaio gave a speech in Japanese again. His Japanese speech was more fluent than the previous day and was almost perfect, astonishing the Manowarriors again. He ended his speech with a toast of Mamushi sake. As expected of a modern-day samurai, Joey DeMaio. The encore ended with “Warriors Of The World United” and “Black Wind, Fire And Steel”. “BThe ending of “The Crown and the Ring (Lament of the Kings)” and the ceremony that takes place there are also 7 minutes long. Then the outro “The Crown and the Ring (Lament of the Kings)” plays and the live ends. I will write down the message in Japanese (!) from the band that was projected on the screen while “The Crown and the Ring (Lament of the Kings)” plays at the end. “Today, October 30th, let the whole of Japan know that the Manowarriors in Tokyo were the best. We will come back again. Hail and Kill.MANOWAR” As I wrote earlier, both days were extremely loud, but the high level of the taper’s skill was demonstrated without any distortion. There are some parts where the surrounding singing voices are picked up in the chorus, but it is also minimal. Every part of the venue was extremely exciting, but it was recorded in the best position under those conditions. Both days were extremely sound-making with the bass boosted to the max, so the sound heard in the venue was muffled and lacking clarity, and the bass was clearly audible, but the guitar was hard to hear and there were many parts where the vocals were hard to hear. However, with our high technology, we have mastered the music to a clear sound where all the instruments can be clearly heard, in tribute to Manowar. The extreme sound directly from the master may be an attractive sound that conveys the extreme sound making at the venue on the day, but since many fans were unable to attend the suddenly decided live show and were left in tears, we have created a clear and balanced sound while still retaining the power so that they can enjoy it. Those who saw it at the venue on the day will be surprised by the sound that you can clearly hear, wondering how each instrument was played. The contents of the two days, which have already become legendary with their intense impact, are truly ULTIMATE. A major epic that will remain in the history of heavy metal performances in Japan! This is a must-listen item for all heavy metal fans who will not listen to anything else without hearing this. The ultimate title for those in pursuit of true metal has finally arrived.
