This is a sound source from Madonna’s 1987 “Who’s That Girl Tour”. A coupling recording of the two Mountain View performances held on July 20th and 21st. Although there are a number of Madonna collector’s items, most of them are from the 2000s onwards, making them surprisingly few valuable sound source releases from this period. I named it “surprisingly” because this tour is a must-see live show that can be said to be the pinnacle of 80’s pop, similar to Michael Jackson’s “Bad Tour.” It’s a tour that packs Madonna’s two great early masterpiece albums “Like a Virgin” and “True Blue” with outstanding freshness. The first half was played in succession, almost like a medley, and the second half was played carefully with each song interspersed with talk. There’s also an amazing selection of songs, including the hidden gem ballad “Live to Tell.” And the vocals you hear on the flamenco-style exotic classic “La Isla Bonita,” which begins with a slightly tantalizing intro arrangement, are very expressive, ranging from husky to punkish. If you lived through the 80’s, you’ve probably heard most of the songs. Abba’s “Gimme!” Gimme! Gimme! Young fans who have only heard “Hang Up,” which sampled “Hang Up,” are sure to discover an unknown charm. The sound quality is an audience sound source, but the equipment used is similar to that used by Mike Millard, the god of audience recording, and considering that it was recorded in the 1980s, it can be said to be of miraculous high quality. A must-have collection that captures the pinnacle of the 80s when the Queen of Pop reached it.
