Description
A live performance in Boston on October 29th, 1976, from the US tour when “Rock and Roll Heart” was released, recorded on master quality and soundboard from FM on-air source. It was an unfortunate era for Arista, and the albums were not very well received, but the sound shifted from the hard and dramatic line of the previous year, and perhaps due to a collaboration with Don Cherry during this tour, it became quite jazzy. Therefore, the overall band ensemble is the most jazz/fusion-like in Lou’s career, and while the set list includes songs that have never been played live since this album, other standard tunes are arranged in a very free jazz style, especially the endlessly freaky “Kicks” and the last VU “Heroin” with its explosive sax blow, which are the ultimate chaos that can only be experienced at this performance. And not only Lou, but the other members are also very enthusiastic, with a high voltage from start to finish.
