Description
This superb stereo soundboard recording is a rare live performance by Lou Donaldson, a virtuoso musician who has been active since the dawn of hard bop and has left numerous works for Blue Note. The performance is by a quartet consisting of Dr. Lonnie Smith, a leading jazz Hammond organist, Peter Bernstein, a guitarist who had just made his debut at the time, and Gregory Hutchinson, a drummer who had come to prominence with the Roy Hargrove Quintet. You can enjoy the bluesy performance reminiscent of ’60s soul jazz with superb sound, including songs from his new albums at the time such as “Danny Boy” and “Sentimental Journey”.
