Description

The latest release of Mike Millard’s master tapes is Linda Ronstadt from 1990. Speaking of Millard’s recording of her in 1990, the masterpiece “COSTA MESA 1990: MIKE MILLARD ORIGINAL MASTER TAPES” has already been released, but this time, the stage held in LA ten days before that is recorded. As for Costa Mesa, it is still fresh in my memory that enthusiasts around the world were in a frenzy over the recording state that exploded with Millard quality, but this recording is also incredibly high quality. While Costa Mesa was attractive for its warm sound spread, this one has a wonderful solid and core sound quality. There is no doubt that both are exceptional quality with Millard’s characteristic on sound image, but the completely different feel is attractive and what a high-level competition. The first Linda performance released by JEMS in 1977 was the peak of her career in the general sense, so this release was made possible, but just like in Costa Mesa, the sound quality is high quality even though it is 1990. Above all, the vividness of Linda’s singing voice and breathing makes it seem like it will surpass the previous Costa Mesa performance. In addition, the venue is the Universal Amphitheater, which is the venue where Millard left her best recording on the 1977 tour, and it is a familiar venue for both him and Linda. That is why they were able to produce such high quality recordings. More than that, the solid performance and passionate singing that Linda and her band weave is indescribable. Having literally reached a state of maturity, she is supported by members such as Rosemary Butler on backing vocals, Russ Kunkel on drums, and her ally Ken Edwards from the Stone Poneys era, and she sings with great pleasure. Of course, Aaron Neville, the highlight and guest of this tour, also appeared on this day, and showed off his velvet voice in the part included on the second disc. It was only natural that the surrounding audience listened with bated breath to the breathtaking duet of the two, which also contributed to the amazing quality and listening comfort. And the finale, “When Something Is Wrong With My Baby,” which was not performed in Costa Mesa. This song is an R&B classic that symbolizes the collaboration between Linda and Aaron in 1990, and the ultimate grand finale with the addition of Tower of Power Horns as special guests was also captured with perfect sound quality. Her singing voice, the backing performance, and the attractive set list unique to this tour. The finishing touch was the amazing sound quality due to the outstanding recording by Millard. This is the best audience album created by the interaction between the performers and the tapers, where everything is perfect.
