Description

The highly popular release “BBC SESSIONS 1969 PRE-FM REELS” was based on ZEP’s BBC radio appearances from 1969, but Krw_co has also released the original reels from the 1971 broadcast. This is an unedited sound source that can be said to be a standard of the CD generation, which has been released by various labels starting with the nostalgic “THANK YOU (It’s Complete)”. Therefore, not only can you hear the intervals between songs that were omitted from the original broadcast, but the stereo balance is also extreme, and there is no echo added, so it should be called a rough mix. The classic album “BBC SESSION 1971” also covered the sound source before mixing and editing for this broadcast, but this time it is in even better condition and you can feel the naturalness from the setting scene before the live performance starts. Some of the items released by other labels in the past that were called the best were heavily compressed, and the naturalness of the Krw_co version stands out, just like in 1969. This rough mix had the great advantage of recording the entire recording, but when it was leaked, a slight cut occurred at the point where “Mess Of Blues” switched to “Honey Bee” in the “Whole Lotta Love” medley, which was a major drawback. In fact, in “BBC SESSION 1971,” the cut was recorded without being filled in. So, just like the 1969 version, this part was meticulously filled in from the version broadcast in Japan in 1996 under the supervision of a ZEP specialist. It is a finish that is completely unrecognizable at first glance. It is natural that the complete recording was achieved in this way, and it is natural that the overall pitch is normal. What stands out most of all is the clean and easy-to-listen-to reels owned by Krw_co. Since the original was a perfect stereo soundboard recording, it was a natural sound source with good sound quality, but even so, this one is exceptionally comfortable to listen to. The flashy mastering and recording state that was finished for commercialization in 1969 or more is not even a topic of discussion, and yet it is a finish that can be enjoyed with confidence by beginners and enthusiasts alike. And it is full of things to listen to because it is a unique radio recording live at the height of ZEP live in 1971. The heat is basically high as in 1971, but Robert and the other ZEP members are relaxed and taking on the recording, as captured in the best stereo soundboard recording, which is the charm of the 1971 version of BBC. There is plenty of room for scenes where Robert purposely redoes “What Is And What Should Never Be”, which was cut from the actual broadcast. Above all, it is a live performance in a recording studio where there are no cheers or screams between songs, so you can hear Bonzo making comments to Robert in between performances because it is a sound source before it was edited for broadcast. A new standard soundboard, the most basic of the ZEP live shows that have been released as many times as the stars, is born here. Enjoy it with peace of mind until the end in a natural and stable state. The familiar Crocodile sound source. BBC has been released many times, but this time it is an extreme version of the stereo separation known as the Antravata. It is often called Pre-FM, but it may be easier to understand if you call it a rough mix. This time, the sound is wide range without compression. Perhaps because of the original clever editing, there are still many parts between songs where the correct position of the MC part cannot be determined, and BBC is surprisingly mysterious, but the Mess Of Blues part in Whole Lotta, which is cut during the song, is supplemented with the 1996 remix (the version known for Cobra, etc.) and the performance part is recorded in full.
