Description
Speaking of ZEP 1977 Louisville, it was a new sound source unearthed in 2007 and produced many items at the time. Although it was a stereo audience recording, it had problems such as “distorted edges of the sound” or “low pitch”, and while it was a valuable new sound source, it was undeniable that it was a high-hurdle sound source. As expected, there was no sign of new titles being released other than the items from 2007, and in the end it ended up being positioned as a sound source for enthusiasts of the 1977 tour. So, another sound source from the same day, so to speak, “recorder 2”, was affected. This one had frequent cuts, including large gaps in the opening “The Song Remains The Same” and “No Quarter”. In addition, there were frequent problems with the sound image becoming distant, perhaps because the microphone could not be fixed until “Nobody’s Fault But Mine”. To be honest, it is still a sound source for enthusiasts, but it still has merits that “recorder 1” does not have. Basically, both sound sources have distortion, which tells us that the sound output from ZEP at the venue on the day was loud, but even so, “In My Time Of Dying” is stable, and there is no distortion at the edges of the sound like “recorder 1”, so it has the advantage that it can be heard surprisingly well. This “recorder 2” is a recording that enthusiasts tend to give up on because of the rough feeling immediately after the live performance starts, but once the recording environment settled down, it was recorded in mono with a core. Among them, the acoustic set is easier to hear than “recorder 1”, and it is undeniable that the early troubles mentioned above caused the charm of these parts to be overlooked before reaching the point. In addition, the plant of the acoustic set is very good, and his lively singing, which was not fully conveyed from “recorder 1”, will look fresh. On the other hand, there were some scenes where the performance of “Ten Years Gone” was not impressive at all, which made me smile bitterly when I listened to it, and I was able to realize how much the performance had improved on the next stage, the super-classic “DESTROYER” on April 27th. Of course, the frequent cuts are extremely regrettable, and it is inevitable that they cannot attract more attention than “recorder 1”. After all, the taper stopped recording “No Quarter” the moment Johnsy’s improvisation began, and you can see a glimpse of a reaction like “I’m done with it”. Please try out the unknown charm of the Louisville 77 sound source, which is valuable and has two existing sound sources, both of which are for enthusiasts!
