Description

The Dogs of Doom team continues to energetically excavate ZEP live sound sources, and this time the upper version of Buffalo, one of the standard sound boards of the 1973 tour, will be released, but in February they also unearthed another new sound source. It was June 27th, the finale of the LA Forum consecutive performances, which was the pinnacle of the 1977 tour. Of course, on this day there is the immortal famous mirrored source that has produced masterpieces such as “DEEP STRIKER” and “COHERENCE”, but in February, The Dogs of Doom unearthed a new audience recording that was previously unknown, so to speak, “recorder 2”. This recording is a mono audience, and it does not reach the level of the mirrored source “recorder 1” (that one is in a class of its own). However, the balance of the moderate distance and the solid sound quality unique to mono makes it quite easy to hear. Even with the same ZEP LA Forum 1977 sound source, there is no difference in sound quality like the mirrored source on the first day, also known as “Eddie”, and the Erik source, and in that respect, it can be said that the sound quality is surprisingly easy to listen to. It is certain that when the master of the mirrored source, which will surely be released someday (I can’t wait!), appears, it will be a great complement, but you can enjoy this sound source alone. June 27, 1977 was the last day of the LA Forum consecutive performances, and each performance was characterized by a tendency to be stretched from the middle. The best example of this is the first and last “Dancing Days” acoustic version, which Jimmy started even changing the tuning of his guitar during the performance. Since 1973, ZEP has stopped playing songs that are not in the routine on a whim as the venues used have become larger, and this has become even more fixed by the 1977 tour. That is why this scene was an exception among exceptions. Also, in the 1977 LA Forum consecutive performances where Bonzo basically seems to be going all out, it is also attractive that the balance with the other members is the most balanced. Bonzo alone does not seem to stand out as much as “Eddie”, and yet the tension of the whole performance is high, which is also the charm of this day. For example, Bonzo is still as sharp as ever in “Over The Hills And Far Away”, but Jimmy is also playing hard to beat, which is exactly what this day is like. And this time’s sound source also has a cut part in “Ten Years Gone”, and it is painfully obvious that if you try to record the 1977 stage, you will usually have to change the cassette with this song. It seems that the mirrored master of the final day of the forum, which was a heated night different from “Eddie”, will be released in the future, so please enjoy the legendary performance instead on this CD. Moreover, the pitch deviation seen at the beginning of the live is also well adjusted and it is a different sound source that first appeared!
