Description

A live performance at Fillmore East, NY on June 20, 1970, recorded completely uncut on a master quality soundboard that was recently unearthed. First of all, while the recordings in circulation had the encore part cut out, this is a complete version that includes the entire 76-minute concert, including that part. And while the recordings from the performance at Fillmore East just before it closed a year later were officially released, this precious recording, all of which was sung and played on piano, is an unreleased recording that has never seen the light of day, so it is quite rare. Moreover, the quality is comparable to the official version, and the soundboard source is clear and transparent, making it a touching experience for fans. And as for the set, it was just after the release of their fourth album, “Christmas And The Beads Of Sweat,” so they performed six songs from the nine tracks on this album. Among them, the most touching song is “Christmas In My Soul” from the same album, which expresses the message that in this 1970 era, Laura’s heart is filled with anguish because the Vietnam War has taken away the freedom and livelihood of citizens… and expresses it in words and poetry with a peaceful soul. This feeling is reflected in all the songs and poems, and the audience, who agreed with her feelings, gave warm applause after each song. The set also includes covers of Goffin & King and the Kingston Trio, which are also included in the album, as well as masterpieces such as “Brown Earth”, “Gibsom Street”, and “Captain For Dark Mornings / Treasure Of Love”, which can only be heard here at the live show. All of these songs are performed with live piano, unlike the albums that use rhythm sections and horns, and some songs have a completely different impression. The simple acoustic style inherited from the previous work was proven to be wonderful at the miraculous performance in Japan after this. Miles Davis also appeared on the same stage that day, which was a big topic at the time. The supreme space that can be said to be her origin is now reproduced here with the best quality. 01.
