Description

KISS was at its peak in 1977, with “LOVE GUN” reaching No. 4 in the US and “ALIVE II” reaching No. 7 in the US. This iconic soundboard has been newly excavated as an upgraded master. This newly excavated SBD master from the same period as ALIVE II features the “September 2, 1977 Houston performance.” This stereo soundboard recording is a must-have. Our shop archives the entire history of KISS with as many masterpieces as possible, especially the golden ’70s, which saw a tremendous rush of masterpieces. To avoid confusion in the collection, as always, let’s start with an overview of their activities and approach this work’s position. “ROCK & ROLL OVER Tour” January 1st – March 7th: North America #1 (38 shows) ←※MSG FEBRUARY 1977; March 24th – April 4th: First visit to Japan (10 shows) ←※COMPLETE BUDOKAN 1977, etc. “LOVE GUN Tour” July 8th – September 5th: North America #2 (30 shows) ←★COCO★ “ALIVE II Tour” November 15th – December 31st: North America #3 (27 shows) ←※LARGO 1977 This is KISS in 1977. Three tours were crowded together, and all but the legendary first visit to Japan were North American. The Houston performance in this work was part of the “LOVE GUN Tour,” which was in the middle of the tour. This tour is also famous for producing the traditional work “ALIVE II.” Let’s focus more on the dates here. Details of “North America #2 (LOVE GUN Tour)” {“LOVE GUN” released on June 30th} July 8th – August 13th (18 shows) *August 16th “SAN FRANCISCO 1977 (SBD)” August 17th – 22nd (4 shows) August 26th: Inglewood show ← *ALIVE II recording date August 27th: Inglewood show ← *ALIVE II recording date August 28th: Inglewood show ← *ALIVE II recording date *September 1st “DEFINITIVE HOUSTON 1977 1ST NIGHT (SBD)” *September 2nd: Houston show ← ★This work *September 4th + 5th “FORT WORTH 1977 (SBD)” {September 13th – 16th: Studio work for “ALIVE II”} The Houston performances were two consecutive performances immediately following “ALIVE II,” and are famous for producing pro-shot masterpieces such as the pro-shot masterpieces “HOUSTON 1977 1ST NIGHT/2ND NIGHT” and the official “KISSOLOGY.” This work is not a soundboard master unearthed through a unique route. A new masterpiece that is more powerful than the pro-shots and sister works of the same day. If you’ve read this far, you may be struck by a sense of déjà vu. Yes, this work is the next day (day 2) version that followed the same path as the recently released and highly acclaimed “DEFINITIVE HOUSTON 1977 1ST NIGHT: SOUNDBOARD (Zodiac 746).” Of course, this time too, it’s a soundboard master that excels the pro-shot sound of the same day, but in fact, it’s even better. This work is superior to the sisters’ first-day edition, 1ST NIGHT. The biggest point is dynamism. The intense directness of the mix desk is at the same level, but each note is thick. The midrange density is also extremely high, and the deep bass is powerful enough to shake your organs and sway your guts. Moreover, unlike the audience, it’s not generated by the sound, but rather has dynamism in its core. Of course, there’s no cloudiness due to the sound, and the bass, which tends to be muddy for the audience, roars with a thumping, thumping sound. The set list is the same as the previous pro shots and the first day’s “1ST NIGHT (Zodiac 746),” so I’ll omit it here, but the performance is truly “unprocessed, unedited ALIVE II.” This work is the highest peak update of the soundboard album that imprints such a climax live performance into your brain. It’s wider and clearer than the pro shot sound of the same day, and more dynamic than the sister soundboard “DEFINITIVE HOUSTON 1977 1ST NIGHT: SOUNDBOARD” from the previous day. This is the best-sounding full-length live album from the two-day Houston concert, the source of numerous masterpieces. This is a stereo soundboard recording of the “September 2, 1977 Houston performance.” This new master was unearthed through a unique source. It’s wider than the pro-shot sound from the same day, and more dynamic and powerful than the classic “DEFINITIVE HOUSTON 1977 1ST NIGHT: SOUNDBOARD” from the same venue/previous day. The intense directness of the mix desk is superb, with every note having a rich depth. This is a new masterpiece of a soundboard that could be described as “unprocessed and unedited ALIVE II.” The Summit, Houston, TX, USA 2nd September 1977 STEREO SBD (77:15) 1. Intro 2.
