Description

A new, epic demo album of the masterpiece “DYNASTY,” which concluded the golden ’70s, has been unearthed! This is the birth of a masterpiece that encompasses all existing records! This work permanently preserves approximately 4 hours and 48 minutes of studio recording. It’s not a collection of existing demos, but all of them are completely debut masters. This newly unearthed demo album was brought to us through our own route, and while some of the recordings have been known for some time, they are also new masters of the highest peak update quality, and a large number of debut demos that no one has ever heard before are also included. While the sheer volume may seem overwhelming, the content is actually surprisingly simple and easy to understand, with the discs divided into three sections. Let’s take a look at each one individually. DISC 1: A collection of demos, many of which did not appear on the albums. Sessions 1 & 2: Planet Studios (1979/1989). 6 songs from GENE SIMMONS VAULT: Gypsy Nights, It’s Funny But It Ain’t No Joke, Queen of Hearts, Love By Invitation, Fourever (1979 version), Dorothy Lamour. 2 songs from DYNASTY: Charisma, X-Ray Eyes. Session 3: Music Farm Studios (January 22, 1979). 1 song from DYNASTY: Dirty Livin’. 2 songs from OUT OF CONTROL: There’s Nothing Better, Out Of Control. 1 unreleased song: Rumble. This album contains seven sessions across five discs, with the first disc, DISC 1, containing early sessions 1, 2 and 3 from 1978 to early 1979. In fact, Disc 1 is the easiest to enjoy. Perhaps recorded just as the group was moving from the composition stage to the selection stage, it features a variety of classic tracks, both album and non-album. Each track is recorded in its own right, without any practice sessions or alternate takes. This demo album, with 12 tracks, can be enjoyed as a complete musical work. And the content is rich and varied. While these sessions were for “DYNASTY,” only three tracks made it onto the final album: “Charisma,” “X-Ray Eyes,” and “Dirty Livin’.” Other tracks include the original versions of “There’s Nothing Better” and “Out Of Control,” both from Peter Criss’ solo album “OUT OF CONTROL,” and the unreleased track “Rumble,” which remains unreleased on official releases. Half of the disc is dedicated to Gene Simmons’ classics, first seen on “VAULT.” “Fourever,” in particular, was originally written for “ALIVE II” and sung about the eternal bond between the original four members of KISS, and was re-recorded during the “DYNASTY” sessions. Discs 2-4: Complete Classic Sessions from Electric Lady Studios; Session 4: “I Was Made For Lovin’ You” Sessions (February 20, 1979); Session 5: “Sure Know Something” Sessions (February 21, 1979); Session 6: “Dirty Livin'” Sessions (February 22, 1979). After completing the writing phase, the band moved to Electric Lady Studios and began full-scale album production. Discs 2, 3, and 4, recorded there, offer a completely different feel from Disc 1. While Disc 1 was packed with a variety of completed demos, these discs showcase the detailed refinement and practice of each song, bringing them to the stage where they could actually record. Each day = one song = one disc. As mentioned above, each disc contains the sessions for “I Was Made For Lovin’ You” (approximately 71 minutes), “Sure Know Something” (approximately 80 minutes), and “Dirty Livin'” (approximately 73 minutes) recorded over three days, February 20th, 21st, and 22nd. The content is a super-realistic experience. Everything from test plays and discussions to the “all-you-can-do” chlorine-based backing tracks is recorded on tape, running continuously. This isn’t a demo to listen to after the songs have taken shape, but rather a chance to witness the four original KISS members developing a masterpiece right there and then. You can fully immerse yourself in this sense of secrecy over the course of three songs, a total of 3 hours and 44 minutes. Disc 5: Jim Burgess’ Alternate Versions, Single Edits: Sure Know Something/Hard Times, Extended Remixes: I Was Made For Lovin’ You/Dirty Livin’. The final disc, Disc 5, is Session 7, a post-album compilation. Here, Jim Burgess creates alternate single versions from the completed multi-tracks. This release features four takes of edits and remixes, none of which are work in progress; rather, they are fully finished versions. The sound quality is completely official, making this the most complete disc of this epic five-disc set. These treasured studio recordings total 4 hours, 47 minutes, and 34 seconds. They include unreleased companion tracks from the “DYNASTY” sessions, recording studio documentation, and single gems. Previously available tracks are updated to the highest quality, and most of the tracks are completely new, making this an astounding five-disc set. This is a massive demo album from the masterpiece “DYNASTY,” the final masterpiece of the 1970s. This is not a collection of existing demos, but a completely new master, all brought to us through our own unique route. The previously available tracks are of the highest quality, and this epic five-disc set encompasses all existing recordings, including full sessions and alternate single versions of “I Was Made For Lovin’ You,” “Sure Know Something,” and “Dirty Livin’.” Collection of all the Dynasty Sessions starting in late 1978 and ending just before release in 1979.
