Description

Recorded at the Rainbow Theatre in London on January 21, 1972. This is a professional shot video familiar from BBC’s “IN CONCERT”, but this is not an air check, but a pre-broadcast digital master, a commercial master with a time counter boasting the highest image quality and sound quality, directly digitalized, the definitive version that will impress British fans all over the world. The KINKS released their first album after moving to RCA, the masterpiece “MUSWELL HILLBILLITIES”, in November 1971, and the live ensemble, which boldly introduced Mike Cotton and other brass members, gave a clear difference in direction from their early beat band-like sound, and is well worth listening to from start to finish. The KINKS sound, unique to this period when the sound was layered, sounds very fresh when heard now. Ray Davies’ tasteful British vocals will impress many British rock fans who watch this DVD. The program starts with their signature song, Victoria. From the latest work at the time, “MUSWELL HILLBILLITIES,” Acute Schizophrenia Paranoia Blues, the fun Dedicated Follower Of Fashion that invites the whole venue to sing along, LOLA, which became a big hit in 1970, the light R&R cover Good Golly Miss Molly, the early representative song You Really Got Me, which is played as a medley, and All Day And All Of The Night. You can enjoy the best time with the masterpiece Waterloo Sunset, which is a beautiful and tight performance, even though it is a 30-minute program.
