Description

“READING ROCK ’75” expanded the world of “SAD WINGS OF DESTINY” with two masters and videos. Although it is a super masterpiece record of the very early JUDAS PRIEST, it is not true that this is PRIEST’s first record. Furthermore, there are recordings from the early days, before Glenn Tipton joined. This work is a delicious recording collection where you can listen to the music of KK/Rob/Glenn’s golden front trio before it was completed! First up is THE FLYING HAT BAND. This is Glenn Tipton’s band before joining JUDAS PRIEST. This band signed with the same VERTIGO label as BLACK SABBATH and produced their debut album, but for some reason it was shelved. There were many member changes, but in the end it was a blues rock trio with Glenn’s vocals and guitar supported by the rhythm section. What’s more, this drum is EL&P’s Carl Palmer’s brother. The first four songs of this work are said to be THE FLYING HAT BAND’s debut demo. In the 1990s, half-official tracks such as EARTH (the predecessor band of SABBATH) and progressive rock band ANTROBUS were released, and the sound source is also available on Glenn’s official website. As you can see from this background, the sound is truly an official-grade gem. The next two songs “Horrors Of War” and “I’m Taking My Time” are also demos of THE FLYING HAT BAND, but their official titles are unknown. The sound quality is one step lower than the first four songs, but the rarity of this one is several steps higher. Both of these songs are blues-rock that is different from JUDAS PRIEST, but they are masterpieces with catchy hooks and sharp rhythm arrangements that definitely show signs of later development. The last song is by KK Downing and Rob Halford. Glenn joined JUDAS PRIEST in “April 1974”, but this was two months before that. This is the first recording of JUDAS PRIEST. …However, the main character is not PRIEST but BUDGIE. It appears that members of the opening act JUDAS PRIEST participated in the “Running From My Soul” jam that was played at the end of BUDGIE’s concert. There are no detailed performance credits, but the voices and two guitars can be confirmed, so there is no doubt that Rob and KK are participating. I’m glad that the sound is so neat that you can clearly hear that, but it’s still BUDGIE who leads the way with the music. Rather than “deciphering the roots of JUDAS PRIEST”, it is a meaningful sound source that allows you to enjoy the atmosphere immediately after the start. These six songs are all that THE FLYING HAT BAND is known for, and this is also the only sound of JUDAS PRIEST before joining Glenn. The next record is the video from their appearance on “April 25, 1975 OLD GRAY WHISTLE TEST” (also included in the official DVD “ELECTRIC EYE”), which was immediately after the two met. Furthermore, the next record is the main press CD & DVD Reading Festival. The many blues rock songs you can listen to here are completely different from the dazzling dramas of “SAD WINGS OF DESTINY” and “READING ROCK ’75,” and they predate “ROCKA ROLLA.” is. However, this is the origin of heavy metal. While watching the great success of Tony Iommi, who was the same age as him, what kind of riffs and melodies did Glenn play and aim for the world? Then there’s the freshness of JUDAS PRIEST, a band four years younger than Glenn. All are masterpieces that can only be heard with this sound source. This CD is not only historically valuable, but also has plenty of fun for fans.
