Description
This is a live recording of Joni Mitchell, who is categorized as a singer-songwriter but is a little different from the raspy West Coast style. Joni has attracted attention from jazz fans with the masterpiece “Mingus” which featured Pat Metheny and Jaco Pastorius, but the members of her backing band are always of interest. This recording features Michael Landau, a master of guitar, and Vinnie Colaiuta, who is well known for backing Frank Zappa and Sting, on drums. This is a great recording in which the vocals are so close that you would mistake them for a soundboard if you couldn’t hear the cheers of the audience. The set list, which starts with “Coyote,” which represents Joni in the 70s, and ends with “Woodstock,” is also attractive.
