John Anderson has finally released his new album “1000 HANDS: CHAPTER ONE” and started his solo tour. The latest live album is now available. This work includes “Lin performance on March 29, 2019”. This is the best audience recording. I introduced the live album “GARDEN ROCKS 2019” the other day, but that was just a short set performance. On the other hand, this work is a full live album that will be the first report of a full-fledged tour. First, check the tour schedule for an overview of the activities. ・March 11th + 12th: Orlando (2 performances) [“1000 HANDS: CHAPTER ONE” released on March 31st] ・March 29th – April 30th: North America #1 (19 performances) ←★Here★・May 6th – 12th: North America #2 (5 performances) ・July 29th – September 1st: North America #3 (5 performances) These are the dates announced so far. There are more summer dates than the other day, and it’s finally getting into full swing. The Lin performance of this work was a concert on the first day of such a tour. This work, which recorded a one-of-a-kind show on the first day, is a superb piece that blows away its rarity value. Anyway, what is overwhelming is the on core. There is no doubt that it is an audience recording that inhales real enthusiasm, but the essential performance sound and singing voice do not feel any distance at all, and there is a tremendous sense of closeness. It feels so direct that you can’t believe it’s being transmitted through space, and it’s like a sound board or IEMs connected directly to a desk. That should be it. The position and recording artist for this work are unusual. First of all, regarding the position, this work was recorded on the first floor near the stage. It makes sense that there is no distance. Of course, being close to the stage doesn’t necessarily mean that the sound is good, but the skill of a recordist is to make it a special seat. In fact, it is a master published by “Tapehead2”, who is highly regarded as a modern master. He has been making a series of amazing recordings in the recent progressive rock genre, and the CD version of “GARDEN ROCKS 2019” the other day was also the work of this person. Moreover, the balance is wonderful. The attack sound and vibe of the bass are super clear, the drums are powerful, every single note of the synth and guitar is vivid, and even the tambourine is super clear. Although the nine-member large household is separated beautifully, John’s singing voice still takes center stage. It makes me wonder if these are IEMs specifically designed for vocals, but when you look at them as a whole, they’re well-balanced. And, while receiving the extremely thick performance sound from the front, you can also feel the real enthusiasm from behind…this is an audience recording of an amazing dimension. This sound depicts YES music re-drawn by a new band and a group of famous solo songs. The scales were felt at “GARDEN ROCKS 2019”, but this time it was a full show and it was greatly expanded. Since this is the first report, let’s organize the set distribution here. [YES Repertoire] – Owner of a Lonely Heart, Yours is No Disgrace, I’ve Seen All Good People, America, Starship Trooper/Solid Space, Roundabout – First appearance: Sweet Dreams [Other classics] – First appearance: Ocean Song, Flight of the Moorglade, To the Runner, State of Independence (JON & VANGELIS) [New solo song]・Ramalama, Makes Me Happy, WDMCF/First appearance: First Born Leaders, 1000 Hands (Come Up)…and so on. “First appearance” is a song that could not be heard on “GARDEN ROCKS 2019” (it does not mean the first appearance under a solo name). The “OLIAS OF SUNHILLOW” number and JON & VANGELIS are all from this work, and “1000 HANDS: CHAPTER ONE” has also been increased. YES’s “Sweet Dreams” also appeared. And the arrangement is also wonderful. Unlike YES and YES Featuring ARW, the ensemble is gorgeous, making full use of a variety of instruments such as violin, trombone, saxophone, and flute. Not only the new songs, but also the YES numbers have been revived, sometimes brilliantly, sometimes humorously, and sometimes magnificently. Of course, at its core is a powerful rock band, and it’s not just a sappy affair. As expected, there are some signs that it is not yet perfect as it is only the first performance (Yours is No Disgrace is quite bad), but even that is a rich show that makes you look forward to its future evolution. This is his latest solo tour, in which he plays his new work “1000 HANDS: CHAPTER ONE” on a large scale, and takes advantage of the advantages of solo music to make a grand rewrite of the classics. This is a masterpiece of a live album where you can experience the first performance with an unusually powerful and exquisite sound. I wanted to hear YES Featuring ARW with this sound… This is a masterpiece that will make you want to beg for something you don’t have.
