Guitarist John McLaughlin, who is said to have the most advanced technique in the world, is known for his classical music, including the Mahavishnu Orchestra and Shakti with esoteric Indian music in the 1970s, and the Super Guitar Trio consisting only of acoustic guitars in the 80s. He continued to actively engage in activities in a wide range of fields, including his guitar concerto challenge, and the revival of the Mahavishnu Orchestra in the 1980s. In the 1990s, he met the unique talents of DeFrancesco and Dennis Chambers, and while working with the smallest trio, Free Spirits, he became involved in a return to his roots in jazz. He released a rich album featuring Bill Evans’ songs, which he had been immersed in researching for many years. In addition, “After the Rain” is an album in which McLaughlin takes on the songs of John Coltrane, whom he respects the most along with Miles, which was featured in the album “Soul Brothers” that he produced with Carlos Santana in the 1970s. was released in 1994 as a trio with Free Spirits organist Joey DeFrancesco and invited Coltrane Quartet’s original drummer Elvin Jones (his first collaboration with McLaughlin).
