Description

Hot topic! ! ! The biggest excavation of this century, with most of the rare materials appearing for the first time! ? ! This is a rare collection of over 30 tracks from 1960 to 1963, with a total recording time of 5 hours, including songs in which Eric Dolphy participated, which was the beginning of the transition between Atlantic and Impulse, led by the great star John Coltrane. A 4-disc set of rare materials from rare private collections has been carefully mastered by the label, and although there are some differences depending on the song, most of them are in high quality. ! I would like to introduce the recording date and members, but have you ever heard the Coltrane Original Quartet’s “Ore” or the 1963 studio session between Coltrane and Dolphy? Disc 1 includes a recording of several performances at the New York Jazz Gallery in June and July 1960 by the nascent quartet featuring Coltrane, McCoy Tyner, Steve Davis, and the legendary Pete Larroca. (Probably) 2 songs from the June 27th performance, “Exotica” and “Like Sonny,” about 13 minutes long, and (probably) 2 songs, “You Leave Me Breathless” and “Summertime” from the July 1st performance. The song, about 20 minutes long, will be live on a different day from the 2-disc set “Jazz Gallery, NYC 1960”, which is the definitive version of the previously released Cool Jazz version! Next, the same members performed “Speak Low”, “Blue Train”, “My Favorite Things”, ” Impressions,” “Equinox,” and 14 other songs, including announcements (some songs will be recorded on separate days), are recorded over 2 hours over Disc 3. Next, from the New York Village Gate performance performed by Coltrane, McCoy, Reggie Workman (or Art Davis), and Elvin Jones on July 23, 1961 (maybe August-September?). Contains five songs, approximately 50 minutes long, including “Ore”, “Naima”, “My Favorite Things”, “Greensleeves”, and “Body & Soul”. Incidentally, Eric Dolphy officially joined the Coltrane Band at the Village Gate on July 21, 1961, one week after finishing the Five Spot show with Booker Little. Next, from the Philadelphia Showboat performance held July 24-29, 1961 (probably) by Coltrane, Dolphy, McCoy, Reggie, and Elvin Quintet, “Untitled Song”, “My Favorite Things”, ” Three songs from “Impressions”, approximately 30 minutes long, are recorded on disc 4. Next, from the four New York Village Vanguard performances by Coltrane, Dolphy, McCoy, Reggie and Jimmy Garrison, and Elvin from November 1 to 5, 1961, (probably) one or five days “Chasin’ Another” Trane”, approximately 19 minutes long. Finally, a 25-minute recording of 5 tracks from a fantastic studio session between Coltrane, Dolphy, Jimmy, and Roy Haynes that took place between April and July 1963 (probably). Coltrane, who continued to grow at an unbelievable speed, and Dolphy, a genius in his prime, are furious, and the roar of their souls is so hot that it burns… Compilation of Rare Materials 1960-1963 AUD and SBD Recording 2016 Original Remaster 286 min John Coltrane – Saxophones / McCoy Tyner – Piano / Steve Davis – Bass / Pete Sims LaRoca – Drums Jazz Gallery,New York City,NY July.01.1960 (Probably) Disc 1 1.
