Description

This 4-hour, 17-minute recording features ECM guitarist John Abercrombie’s trio, performing at a New York jazz club on March 1 and 6, 1994. This recording combines the excellent audience master recordings released by Taper with the latest mastering in 2025, capturing all four shows, including the first and second sets, for a total of 4 hours and 17 minutes. While Abercrombie was also performing as a trio with GATEWAY during this period, this recording features an organ-centric performance, a rare find. Abercrombie’s guitar, with its distinctive chorus-like effect, is matched by the warm Hammond sound. While Abercrombie sometimes develops an avant-garde sound centered on improvisation, here he sticks to a more conventional style, showcasing elegant solos and a superb combination of organ and drums. The setlists for each performance are also quite different, so be sure to check them out. DISC 1 : 1. CAROL’S CAROLE 2. FLOTILLA (WORKING TITLE) 3. SCOMOTION 4. THE RAIN SUITE 5.
