Description
From the US tour accompanying the release of his 1988 solo album “Surfing With The Alien,” this live performance in San Jose on April 14th was recorded in full for 97 minutes, using a soundboard source from the local pre-FM master. This CD was made directly from the master cassette owned by the people involved, and even included the previously unreleased second encore “Crushing Day.” First, the members were Stuart Ham, a technical bassist known for his collaboration with Steve Vai, and Jonathan Mover, the drummer of Marillion and GTR, leading the rhythm section. Starting with Memories, his superb technique is fully unleashed on Ice #9 from the same album. There are plenty of highlights to listen to, such as Midnight and Rubina, which express sensitivity with just one guitar, Echo, which explodes with superb playing on tight irregular time signatures, and The Crush Of Love, which changes freely in play, and the second encore, Crushing Day, which is a continuous performance that will keep you entertained until the end.
