Although it may seem a little minor compared to the super royal road of Coltrane, Rollins and Shorter, Joe Henderson has a definite fan base. Two performances in Italy are recorded as couplings, both of which are soundboard recordings. Remastering has been done to cut out as much noise as possible, and the Reggio Emilia performance has some light reception noise in a few places, but it is still of high enough sound quality. The quartet is supported by talented musicians such as John Taylor and Paul Motian, and Enrico Rava participated in the Rome performance. Both performances feature the title song of the hidden masterpiece “Black Narcissus” released by Milestone Label in the 1970s, and it is a worthwhile item just to listen to this song with two horns with Rava and one horn with Joe Henderson alone.
