Description
This release uses a different source than previous releases, so the somewhat distorted sound in the previous title has been resolved! Furthermore, by thoroughly disassembling the master audio source into multi-tracks using the latest technology, treating and remixing it, the instrument placement has been corrected to what it should be! The sound is also much more direct and clear! Even with all the progress being made in organizing Jimi Hendrix’s recordings, the second day of the 1969 Royal Albert Hall concert still hasn’t been officially released. Due to contractual issues related to video footage, and rights issues that have become a labyrinth, the release never materialized even in 2019, which seemed like the perfect timing. Ironically, bootlegs of the audio itself started circulating as early as Jimi’s later years. With the advent of the CD era, high-quality multi-track recordings finally became available, solidifying its position as a standard live recording of Jimi from 1969. Then, in 2022, our store’s masterpiece, “ROYAL ALBERT HALL 1969 2ND NIGHT COMPLETE,” which was literally the culmination of our efforts, was re-released and finally sold out. At this point, a second re-release would be enough, but we didn’t want to miss this golden opportunity, so this time we’re releasing a Royal Albert Hall second-night recording that has been reborn on a completely different level than a mere reissue! The source material for this release is different from “ROYAL ALBERT HALL 1969 2ND NIGHT COMPLETE.” The previously released version was based on “PRINCE ALBERT DOES NOT BITE THE TONGUE,” which had been circulating among collectors since the early 21st century. This had the problem of the file degrading over time due to CD-R trading, and the previously released version was released after restoring the corrupted waveform as much as possible, but this time we’ve started from scratch based on the fresh, undegraded file that Prof. Stoned released in 2020. The recording achieves a wider dynamic range than previous releases simply by capturing the original, uncompressed waveform. Furthermore, the use of the latest AI technology—also featured in the highly acclaimed “BERKELEY 1970 1ST SHOW: 2024 STEREO REMIX”—results in a remarkably clear stereo mix. Prior to remastering and remixing, the latest AI technology (which has also significantly improved since 2024) was used to separate Mitch’s drums into 6 parts, Jimi Hendrix’s guitar, vocals, Noel’s bass, and 10 tracks of audience cheers. Each track was then remastered and remixed, resulting in a stereo soundboard recording of unprecedented clarity compared to previous releases. Additionally, the original mix used for previous releases, created in the 1970s, was based on the interpretation of guitar in the center, bass on the right, and drums on the left, a mix balance that, for better or worse, was undeniably outdated. In particular, the centering of Jimi Hendrix’s guitar is an interpretation that would be unthinkable today. Therefore, this remix has been revised to the image that has become the basis for recent official Jimi Hendrix releases: bass on the left, drums and vocals in the middle, and guitar on the right. As you can see from the photo, Mitch Schwarzenegger was in the middle on stage as well, so the arrangement of Jimi in the middle on previous releases felt all the more dated. In any case, the separation and rawness of the sound in this remix are superb, and if you listen to it without any prior knowledge, you’ll definitely be fooled into thinking that it’s finally been officially remixed and released. Certainly, the sound quality was excellent because it was originally an officially recorded multi-track, but this time it’s been easily surpassed. Not only has the stereo balance been reborn with a magnificent arrangement, but the sound quality itself is suddenly clearer and more dynamic. And above all, the awe-inspiring performance of Jimi and the Experience is captured in perfect sound quality. Unlike the frenzy at the LA Forum two months after the official release, thanks to the quiet atmosphere of the Albert Hall, Jimi Hendrix is more focused on playing than ever. The result is a rare pattern of performing not only “Red House” but also the new song “Bleeding Heart,” a slow blues, twice, and to top it all off, a superb performance of “Little Wing.” These are already great recordings that the official release could never deliver, but they’ve been polished up and reborn into a perfect state that can be enjoyed by everyone from beginners to enthusiasts! This is a title that we highly recommend even to those who already own previously released versions! By previously released versions, we mean Diff Source!
