Description
Bill Evans heard Steig perform with the Paul Winter Sextet in Florida in 1964 and was eager to perform with him. In 1968, this goal was realized and the masterpiece “What’s New” was born. The bass player at this time was, of course, Gomez, and Gomez and Steig used amazing techniques to perform a phantasmagoric stage performance that would be hard to believe as two people. In particular, the performance in Berlin in 1978 that I would like to declare is one of Gomez’s best performances in his heyday. Super rare live performance recorded on the highest quality soundboard, of course the first appearance! Live at Berliner Jazzstage 1978 Philharmonie Berlin,Germany October.31.1978 1. Announcement 2.
