Description
From the US tour that took place immediately after the release of “Rough And Ready”, the Academy of Music performance in New York on November 6th was completely recorded for about 80 minutes with high-quality audience recording. Although the sound quality gives a sense of the times, it is probably a take that has not gone through that many generations from the master, so the freshness of the sound is wonderful and there is almost no deterioration. (There is no sound cutout at 2:04 of Goin’ Down.) Jeff’s playing, Cozy’s tight drums that lead the whole thing, and Middleton’s piano that adds a wonderful flavor are all recorded very clearly. The songs are also very satisfying to listen to. There is a good sense of sound separation, and I can clearly hear Clive’s bass. Even though the sounds are dense, which is common with this type of sound, it does not become difficult to listen to, and Bob’s soulful vocals are recorded very clearly throughout without being buried in the musical sounds. Jeff also seems to be in a good mood, making effective improvisational plays one after another in various places. Throughout the album, you can fully enjoy the passionate performance that makes you feel the heat and spirit of the album, and I think it can be said that it is a masterpiece that clearly conveys the band’s overall sense of groove. Following the opening piano solo ~Going Down, Ice Cream Cakes and Tonight I’ll Be Staying Here With You from the next album will be performed live. Following Jeff’s Boogie, the lively and lively performance is the best, including the spontaneous development in the middle of Jody. I also really enjoy Koji’s fun slap in Morning Dew. The combination of Jeff’s thrilling play on I Ain’t Superstitious and I’ve Been Used and Bob’s vocals in response is also the best, and the development that follows the medley of New Ways / Train Train is also impressive. The last concert concludes with Got The Feeling and Situation, an exciting groove number. You can fully enjoy the performance that is worth listening to, including Jeff’s ever-changing play and the unique playing behavior of the members who support him. 1. Intro. 2.
