Description
Jean-Michel Byron was the vocalist for the American rock band TOTO for a short time. CD album released in 1991 under a solo name. The content includes a remake of “LOVE HAS THE POWER”, which was also included in the so-called Adult Contemporary, “PAST TO PRESENT 1977-1990”. However, perhaps because he is from South Africa, there are some ethnic music-like numbers included. 02 is a very well done AOR number, it’s a medium slow ballad style number, but it’s very melodious and Jean-Michel Byron’s vocals are also wonderful. 03 doesn’t have much of a rock’n’roll feel, so it might be better to call it a melodic hard pop-style AOR number. I think this number is also quite well done. 04 is, of course, a song that I’m used to hearing as a TOTO number. When you listen to this number, you don’t really feel out of place as a TOTO vocalist, but it seems like he was forced to be a vocalist by the record company for the release of “PAST TO PRESENT 1977-1990.” In 06, the chorus at the beginning is ethnic music style, but the main part is a very melodious number, almost AOR.
