Description
THE JAM in 1981, who came back to Japan less than a year later with the masterpiece “SOUND AFFECTS”. The soundboard album, which is the symbol of that, is now available as a top master. This work records “May 16, 1981: Nakano Sun Plaza performance”. It is a stereo soundboard recording. Currently, official excavation live albums from the early 1980s are also available, and masterpieces such as “PINKPOP 1980” and “NEWCASTLE 1980” are also popular. What position does this work have in such a situation? First, let’s look at the schedule at that time. 1980 February 11-15: UK (4 shows) February 27-March 25: North America #1 (13 shows) April 7-June 21: Europe #1 (11 shows) ←※PINKPOP 1980 July 4-8: Japan #1 (3 shows) July 2-August 9: Europe #2 (4 shows) October 18: Bromley show《October 22: Sound Affects completed》 October 26-December 12: Europe #3 (37 shows) ←※NEWCASTLE 1980 1981 February 21st – March 16th / April 27th: Europe #4 (17 shows) May 14th + 16th: Japan #2 (2 shows) ←★Here★ May 21st – 29th: North America #2 (5 shows) June 10th – July 8th: Europe #5 (14 shows) October 5th + 23rd: Europe #6 (2 shows) December 12th – 19th: Europe #7 (5 shows) ←※Official HAMMER SMITH PALAIS This is THE JAM in 1980/1981. The legendary first visit to Japan was part of the “SETTING SONS Tour”, and “SOUND AFFECTS” was released immediately afterwards. Ten months later, they returned to Japan. Although it was only two shows, the Tokyo performance was also broadcast on the radio. It was also a symbolic sound source that has produced many previously released works. This work is the same classic FM sound board, but it updates the highest peak. Our shop introduces many of the best masters under the supervision of overseas Paul Weller researchers, and this work is one of them. In fact, the sound is so-called “completely official class”. There are no dubbing marks, aging deterioration, running twists, etc., and the fresh sound from corner to corner is the best ever. Moreover, there is no trace of digital processing, and the high density sound of analog is extremely natural. The performance itself has an unprocessed rawness, while the neatly arranged sound has the elegance of a musical work. Such an official-class sound board depicts the stage unique to the 1980s, when studio masterpieces were created one after another. Speaking of “SOUND AFFECTS Tour”, our video work “NEWCASTLE 1980” is also fresh in our memory. Let’s organize the set while comparing it here. Sound Affects (8 songs)・But I’m Different Now (★)/Boy About Town/Monday (★)/Man In The Corner Shop (★)/Pretty Green/Set The House Ablaze/Scrape Away/Start! Others (8 songs)・All Mod Cons: To Be Someone (Didn’t We Have A Nice Time)/David Watts・Setting Sons: Private Hell/Thick As Thieves (★)・Others: Funeral Pyre (★★)/The Butterfly Collector (★★)/The Modern World (★)/Strange Town (★) *Note: The “★” mark indicates songs that were not heard in the video work “NEWCASTLE 1980”. In particular, the “★★” mark indicates songs that were not included in the official excavation album “LIVE AT NEWCASTLE CITY HALL 28TH OCTOBER 1980”. …And so on. There are two official excavation albums in the “SOUND AFFECTS Tour”, “NEWCASTLE CITY HALL 28TH OCTOBER 1980” and “THE HAMMERSMITH PALAIS 14TH DECEMBER 1981”, but the former is closer to this work. Still, they are not the same, and in this work you can also enjoy “Funeral Pyre” and “The Butterfly Collector”, which cannot be heard on the official version. This is the highest peak update of the traditional sound board recognized by researchers. An absolute album that allows you to enjoy the heyday of Live in Japan with quality equal to or higher than the official excavation albums lined up. Stereo sound board recording of “May 16, 1981: Nakano Sun Plaza Performance”. This is the best master of the classic FM sound board recommended by overseas Paul Weller researchers. The sound is so-called “completely official class”, and there are no dubbing marks, aging deterioration, running twists, etc., and the fresh sound from corner to corner is the best ever. The dense analog sound is extremely natural, and even when played side by side with the official excavation, it is not inferior at all. It is a Live in Japan that is equal to or better than the official one. Nakano Sunplaza, Tokyo, Japan 16th May 1981 STEREO SBD(UPGRADE) (54:15) 01. Band Intro By John Weller 02.
