Description
Jaco dared to quit Weather Report at the peak of his career and formed his own band, Word of Mouth, to pursue his own music, making further strides from being a mere bassist to being a composer/arranger/band leader. In 1982, which was the first step for the band, a rare transcendental live performance performed with only a small number of core members is now available for the first time in the highest quality sound! ! This work was created at the peak of Jaco’s independent career, with Word of Mouth’s elite members Randy Brecker on trumpet, Bob Mintzer on tenor and bass clarinet, Peter Erskine on drums, and Don Percussion. This is a sextet consisting of Alias, Othello Molyneux on steel drums, and Jaco, and features plenty of improvisation that shows the abilities of the members. It’s completely different from a big band, and everyone wanted to hear this! June 28, 1982 Radicals at The Bayou in Washington DC! The label’s unique high-quality stereo sound master, which can be said to be the top level of Jaco’s collector’s albums, delivers a spectacular performance that is on a different level from the cheap, crunchy sound sources that are circulating in the underground. Highest sound quality, complete version with careful mastering! ! The stage started with “Twins” and then “Invitation” which suddenly changed to a high speed. From the explosive blow battle between Randy and Mintzer, it features Alias’ scary conga solo with various rhythm changes and Jaco’s intense solo, and then Randy and Mintzer again, this time. They put on a passionate performance while engaging in heated battles. Jaco’s signature picking harmonics, which astounded bassists around the world, required a highly sophisticated technique in which the position of the thumb touching the string changed for each necessary harmonic note, and played in various positions. In between Jaco’s solo including arpeggio, Randy & Mintzer’s sharp horns performed Jaco’s very groovy song “Chicken”. Next up is Mintzer’s very cool bass guitar long solo, followed by Parker’s “Donna Lee,” which made Jaco famous all at once, followed by Randy and Mintzer’s amazing blows, Jaco’s super-fast solo, and then double speed. The song becomes a 4-beat song and all the members come together as one to deliver an explosive and powerful performance. Next, the members were introduced with “Okonkore y Trompa” featuring Alias and Othello, followed by Bob Murray’s “I Shot the Sheriff”, “Mr. Von Bone”, and Randy and Mintzer’s After a wonderful solo, an incredible ultra-fast solo explodes with elegant fingering using advanced technique and Jaco’s amazing sense of rhythm with Erskine and Alaias in the background! Throughout the entire Usagi-ni-Kaku performance, you can fully enjoy Jaco’s amazing high-speed running bass with unique intonation, which gives the song a wild dynamic feeling that only he can, which can be said to be the essence of Jaco. You can. Of course, there is no need to explain the variety of solos that come out of stupidly large hands like Kannon’s first move. Don’t miss out on this dream-like feast where the ultimate top members are truly enjoying themselves!
