Description

We will release the treasured recording of the late Jack Bruce performing with Eric Clapton for the first time in 19 years since the “Super Show” in 1969 with the best sound quality ever! This board was produced by our shop after receiving the master directly from a famous taper living in the UK, and it is a complete recording of the scene when Clapton jumped into Jack’s gig at the famous New York club “Bottom Line” on October 10, 1988, including Jack’s set. Until now, this sound source has been distributed among tape traders, and a CD boot called “First Reunion Since Cream” made overseas was released from that source. However, the sound quality of this title was a poor audience recording with a rating of 1 out of 6 points on the famous Clapton boot evaluation site GEETARZ. However, this master that we have exclusively obtained this time was so clear that it was hard to believe it was the same source, and the musical tones were grainy and on-sound image! Maniacs who listened to it will be very surprised. This is a stereo audience recording by Donpica that is like “the moon and the turtle” and “heaven and earth”. Clapton appeared on the two encore songs, playing nostalgic Cream numbers, and the treble tone of his Stratocaster clashing with Jack’s thick bass is reminiscent of the Cream era. In fact, there was a story behind Clapton’s appearance on this day and the guitar he used. Pat Sroll, who played guitar in Jack’s backing band that day, posted a memoir of this day on his blog. According to Pat, the mastermind behind this appearance was Rob Fraboni, who produced Clapton’s 1976 album “NO REASON TO CRY”. He was Pat’s best friend and was working with Clapton in New York at the time. He heard about this day from Pat and told Clapton that Jack’s gig was in New York, and Clapton replied that he would go and see it. Clapton showed up at the club without bringing his guitar (probably he had no intention of joining at first), so when he got on stage he borrowed Pat’s main Stratocaster and played. So the Clapton performance on this album was Pat Sr.’s Stratocaster (sunburst finish). Pat wrote at the end that the stage he performed with Clapton that day was a moment he would never forget in his life. The highlight of this album is, of course, the first performance of Jack and Clapton in 19 years, but given the dramatically improved sound quality, I would like you to once again enjoy the greatness of Jack’s regular set performance and songs on this recording, which I was not able to enjoy carefully because of the poor sound quality in the past. I’m sure Jack’s fans will agree, but it’s no exaggeration to say that the set list on this day was Jack’s best. There is a cut at the beginning of Theme For An Imaginary Western, but this is not a big flaw in terms of sound quality. Incidentally, the master of this disc was recorded on a Sony Professional Walkman at the time, and was transferred to DAT by Taper, who received it from the recorder, and stored it. Therefore, this time you can listen to it at a first-generation level with almost no deterioration over time. So, throw away your old bootlegs and order this disc.
