Description
For IRON MAIDEN and Bruce Dickinson, the definitive edition that combines the masterpiece audience recording of 1990, which was a historical turning point, is now available! Discs 1 and 2 include the Leicester performance accompanied by IRON MAIDEN’s “NO PRAYER FOR THE DYING,” and disc 3 contains the Nottingham performance accompanied by Bruce’s “TATTOOED MILLIONAIRE,” both of which feature the famous taper “Crazy. S.” High quality recording by hand, capturing the whole picture of the live performance. Some of you may be thinking, “Wait a minute. Even though he is a famous vocalist, isn’t it rude to pair him with IRON MAIDEN for a solo?” However, this year’s IRON MAIDEN and Bruce’s solo are (unexpectedly) linked in their activities, personnel, and musicality, and it is only by listening to them together that you can get closer to the historical truth. This product is a hyper set that ideally achieves that. So what exactly is that truth? Let’s listen to them in order. First of all, IRON MAIDEN on discs 1 and 2. This Leicester performance was previously released as “NO PRAYER FOR LEICESTER”, and the master, which was praised by overseas collectors as “one of the best recordings of No Prayer On The Road 90/91”, has been re-digitized from the original tape. (Incidentally, the only rival to this recording is the Paris performance included in “DEFINITIVE YERAS IV (POWERGATE-210)”, and among the dozens to hundreds of tour tapes, this is by far the best. You’ll understand). “NO PRAYER OVER WEMBLEY” released at the same time is a super definitive edition, but unfortunately it is not a full live set. This work complements that and allows you to feel the atmosphere of the venue and the times. 22 Acacia Avenue, Heaven Can Wait, Bring Your Daughter…To The Slaughter, and Sanctuary, which are not included in “NO PRAYER OVER WEMBLEY”, are noteworthy, but 22 Acacia Avenue is especially delicious. Not only is it a hidden masterpiece of yesteryear, but it was not included in the live album rush such as “A REAL LIVE DEAD ONE”, “LIVE AT DONINGTON”, and “RAISING HELL”, so you can listen to valuable performances by this member. When you play the CD, you will hear the clear and real sound that is representative of the tour, and the familiar “633 Bomber Squadron” from Cozy Powell’s drum solo sounds… Your mind has already traveled to England, and MAIDEN appears before your eyes. It seems like there are many stages to wait for. The remastering has partially suppressed the slightly excessive bass and the reverberant sound of the hall, from the mid-bass to the mid-treble range, and brought out the treble, which was originally solid, resulting in a well-defined sound. And the explosive sequel to Aces High, Tailgunner! To be honest, I can’t help but feel that it’s too overpowered to follow in the footsteps of a super famous song, but instead it gives off a dense atmosphere. What is that unique, nostalgic smell? Even so, the blues of this tour is really wonderful. At the time, new recruit Yannick Gers was the center of attention, and Dave Murray’s running around caught my eye. However, now that history has passed, I would like you to listen to Bruce’s voice. It is a famous song from a time when it retains the wildness of the early days while also embodying a sense of stability that is relevant to the present. Next is Disc 3, which is the highlight of this work. This is Bruce’s solo live three and a half months before the IRON MAIDEN edition. First of all, you will be surprised by the super clear sound that spreads the moment it starts. As expected, since it is the same taper, the sound has a nuance close to the wonderful IRON MAIDEN edition, but it is of high quality that will wake you up even if you listen to it continuously. And Riding With The Angels explodes with operatic female voice music! SAMSON’s famous song made the venue’s clock go back in an instant. If you close your eyes, you’ll find yourself in an 80’s club filled with N.W.O.B.H.M.!? Next up is the pop single Born In ’58, which fills the venue with a tough yet refreshing and subtle sadness. During the quiet parts, you can hear the faint (really faint) voices of the female guests talking, which is wonderfully realistic and truly authentic! Furthermore, the show progresses with simple and wild blues-like rock songs such as Lickin’ The Gun and Dive! Dive! Dive!, interweaving with pop songs such as Gypsy Road and All The Young Dudes… It’s very sensual. The nostalgic heavy metal feels good. Not too heavy, not too intense, not too pop, just wild. Not modern metal, but British heavy metal from that era. This is exactly N.W.O.B.H.M.! Yes, this is the true smell that I felt on disc 1, IRON MAIDEN! If you think about it, the origin that IRON MAIDEN advocated in 1990, and the soul of their wild “No Prayer On The Road” tour, was this “N.W.O.B.H.M. atmosphere.” British fans, who knew this first-hand, were keenly aware of IRON MAIDEN’s return to their roots and enthusiastically pushed Bring Your Daughter… To The Slaughter to number one on the charts. The “story of IRON MAIDEN’s rebirth” that began with Bruce’s solo was not just about the recruitment of Yannick, but was something that should be told at the level of the musical soul. If you think about it, how many audience recordings have we, Japanese, listened to where we can feel the atmosphere of N.W.O.B.H.M.? At that time, the atmosphere that I longed for as a 7-inch single is here. What’s more, it’s a high-quality sound that you wouldn’t expect from a minor band in the early 80’s, and it’s a real document that includes everything from the intro tape to the BGM after the show! If you have listened (read) up to this point, you will understand why this work is a coupling set. Together with Yannick, who wears the body odor of N.W.O.B.H.M., Bruce digs past his origins, and the monster IRON MAIDEN revives to swallow them both. The essence of these two can only be enjoyed with a full audience recording. If you’re a fan of British heavy metal, Tattooed Millionaire will touch your blood, and the gutsy Sin City will warm your eyes. That atmosphere of the British Empire that burned our hearts to the point of trembling. Let’s breathe it in to the fullest tonight! As a bonus disc, this work includes the sound source of the June 27 Astoria Theater broadcast from Bruce’s solo tour. Originally it was a high quality master, but the slight remaining broadcast noise has been removed neatly and recorded in the best version. In the first place, this live performance was also used as the B-side of the official single, and five songs that cannot be heard on that single (Born In ’58, Lickin’ The Gun, Hell On Wheels, All The Young Dudes, Wishing Well) are also included. It is recorded. In particular, Wishing Well (FREE cover) is a delicious song that was only played on the UK tour and is not even in the official video shot in the US. Immediately after, IRON MAIDEN covered FREE’s I’m A Mover, so please enjoy the unexpected roots of the blues and the strong British smell.
