The Golden Age of the Golden Age, “WORLD SLAVERY TOUR 1984-1985” Live in Japan is reissued! This work is an audience album that records the performance at “April 19, 1985, Tokyo Welfare Pension Hall”. The third Japan tour following 1981 and 1982 was a total of eight performances, five of which were in Tokyo. It’s also a tour where memories and records become intertwined, so let’s take a look at the full schedule here.・April 14th: Nakano Sunplaza ・April 15th: Nakano Sunplaza ・April 17th: Tokyo Employees’ Pension Center ・April 19th: Tokyo Employees’ Pension Center [This work] ・April 20th: Nagoya City Public Hall・April 22: Fukuoka Sun Palace・April 24: Osaka Festival Hall・April 25: Nakano Sun Plaza In this way, this work is the fourth live performance of the Japan tour. The biggest point of this work is the sound. This performance in Japan does not have a very good sound record, but this work is completely different. The freshness of the CD, which was created directly from the master cassette given directly by the recorder himself, is outstanding, and the sparkling musical sounds are dazzling. The two guitars can be clearly heard, and the way Steve Harris’s booming bass and Nico McBrain’s geometric drumming build the framework of the song is conveyed in detail and perfectly. Of course, there is the sense of space of the Tokyo Welfare Pension Hall, but the atmosphere in the venue is crystal clear without any turbidity, and Bruce Dickinson’s vocals reach straight through like a laser beam. The quality and nuance of the sound can be said to be the Japanese version of the master Crazy S. recording… no, it’s even better than that. MAIDEN’s shows during their heyday, colored by that sound, were huge spectacles. Of course, the content of the show is similar to “LIVE AFTER DEATH”, and there are no particularly unusual songs or performances, but the “spread” that only spatial recording has has expanded the sense of scale of the songs many times over. Dickinson on this tour emphasizes exuberance rather than delicate nuances, but the sense of scale is just huge! Even during the break part in the middle of “Rime Of The Ancient Mariner,” the venue was filled with a fantasy feeling that made you feel as if you had wandered into the world of the deep sea. A gritty, steely feel, penetrating sharpness, and colorfully unfolding songs…there are many heavy metal bands, but it’s a musical world that only IRON MAIDEN could imagine in their heyday. And the vividness of the audience witnessing it is amazing. The Japanese audience has been singing a lot since their first visit to Japan, but the scale and enthusiasm are as expected from the “WORLD SLAVERY TOUR”. Dickinson at this time didn’t even try to hit the high notes of “Run To The Hills”, but the chorus of 2,000 people was there to sing on his behalf! Even when Dickinson provoked him during “Running Free,” the Japanese audience responded with “Yeah!” like trained soldiers… This reality is a spectacle that can only be achieved by recording from the audience seats! Definitely “LIVE AFTER DEATH in JAPAN”. It’s also a 100% genuine piece with the best sound. Due to the tape change, “Hallowed Be Thy Name” and the first half of “Iron Maiden” were not recorded, and the sound becomes unstable in the second half of “Iron Maiden” as well. It is also a book whose basic quality is too outstanding. I would like to avoid this wonderful recording being forgotten at all costs. This is a reissue of the white disc CDR that embodies that feeling. To the Tokyo Welfare Pension Hall in its wonderful heyday. This weekend, this work will take you there.
