Description
Oh, this is great! Another great sounding live album from the latest tour “THE BOOK OF SOULS WORLD TOUR (2017 edition)” has arrived. What’s great about it is the sound. When I introduced “LIVERPOOL 2017” the other day, I wrote that it would probably be the best of the European leg, but a powerful recording that completely surpasses it has appeared. In fact, “LIVERPOOL 2017” is still great to listen to, but this work using the MCSM4 microphone is even clearer and more direct. Although the lively applause is engraved with evidence of the audience recording, the musical sound itself is properly worthy of being called “like a sound board”. … I couldn’t help but miss something important because of the wonderful sound. This work contains “Glasgow performance on May 16, 2017”. It is a “late-coming” live album that is two performances before the Liverpool performance the other day. So, as usual, let’s imagine it from the tour overview. [First half: 2016 part] ・February 24-April 16: North America #1/South America (27 performances) ・April 20-May 14: Asia/Oceania (11 performances) ・May 18+21: South Africa (2 performances) ・May 27-August 4: Europe #1 (32 performances) [Second half (about 8 months later): 2017 part] ・April 22-May 2: Europe #2a (6 performances in Belgium/Germany) ・May 4-28: Europe #2b (13 performances in the UK) ←★Here★ ・June 3-July 22: North America #3 (25 performances) This is the full picture of “THE BOOK OF SOULS WORLD TOUR”. The Glasgow performance of this work is the 7th concert of “Europe #2b”. In addition to the superb sound, this work also has a very good condition of the band. IRON MAIDEN is a professional band with little difference between performances, but Bruce Dickinson’s condition was not so good at the previous “LIVERPOOL 2017”. No, it was not bad enough to make a big fuss, but there were some deviations in the song’s rhythm, and it felt like “he’s not making a good voice”. It was a show with a pillow word “for superman Dickinson”. In contrast, this work is a powerful live performance that is very typical of MAIDEN! Superman Dickinson’s voice extension and the ensemble with a sense of unity are perfect. It’s a passionate performance that makes you slap your knees and say “This is what we have to do!” Now, a side note here. Last time, I talked about how “Hallowed Be Thy Name” fell off the set, but let’s go a little further. There is a dispute between the two authors of “Life’s Shadow”, the source of this song, Robert Burton and Brian Ingham, over their share, but there is another key person. That is a man named Barry McKay. MAIDEN has paid royalties to Burton, but McKay has signed a publishing contract with Ingham and claims that he has the publishing rights. Moreover, McKay signed the contract very recently (March 29, 2017), and filed the suit two days later (March 31). MAIDEN’s tour resumed on April 22, so it was as if they were aiming for the tour to resume. I don’t know what will happen, but for the time being, IRON MAIDEN will respond by removing “Hallowed Be Thy Name” from the set. On the other hand, McKay has not submitted any evidence. I don’t know how accurate the news that has come in so far is, but he’s a really unpleasant guy. The absence of “Hallowed Be Thy Name” is unfortunate, but it’s no problem for MAIDEN, which is full of great songs. In this work, they also performed “Wrathchild”, which they did not play in 2016, and the new song “The Great Unknown”. In particular, “The Great Unknown” has no soundboard or pro shot (for now), and this work is the “best record”. You can enjoy the latest tour with a great sound, and the best quality “The Great Unknown” is also a masterpiece. To meet them again in Japan, you have to wait until the next tour. This is a live album that makes you feel MAIDEN even now and runs alongside them on tour across the sea. This is a live album that you should definitely enjoy, especially for those who never forget and continue to love MAIDEN.
